What do they expect from their reality? -> Optimistic
Darwin is a very happy and optimistic person. He always sees the best in every occasion and is never seen without a smile on his face. He even tries to push for the idea that Mrs. Robinson is not a psychopath even if Gumball insists she's a hell spawn.
ROLE
1. Motivation of Actions
Why do they act? -> Altruism
Not only does he desire to be happy, but he wants others to be happy alongside with him. He often insists on helping those around him even if Gumball is usually against the notion.
2. Momentum of Actions
Where does their momentum come from? -> Passive
Darwin is always the one who goes along Gumball's decisions even if he knows it will turn out badly for the both of them. He is often spurred to action by events outside of him rather than initiating the events themselves.
3. Mobility of Actions
What fuels and sustains their actions? -> Extroversion
He enjoys the company of others and is rarely seen by himself. He sticks to Gumball like glue and tries to interact with most people regardless of where they come from.
RESONANCE
1. Preferred Environment
What kind of world do they thrive in? -> Chaotic
Darwin rolls with the punches of each chaotic scheme Gumball becomes a part of. He lives in the crazy world of Elmore without a sweat and can sometimes use some unexpected twists to his advantage.
2. Preferred Judgement
How do they evaluate situations? -> Emotion
Darwin relates to others through empathy and sensitivity. He is very affectionate of others, as seen in his interactions with his family, and specifically Gumball, throughout the series. This love and affection may be a weakness of his; however, as a result, he is very possessive without his loved ones, and feels very lonely when not around them. Such is evidenced in "The Bros" and "The Burden," in which Penny's newfound relationship with Gumball makes him jealous.
3. Preferred Understanding
How does reality become meaningful to them? -> Physical
Darwin does not stand around and contemplate about his place in the universe. He engages with reality physically such as his desires to hug Carrie and in "The Night", he dreams about simple pleasures such as eating and drinking huge snacks.
INTEGRATION
How do they handle perspectives that challenge their natural Resonance? -> Integrated
Darwin is incredibly well-adjusted. He accepts his place in the family and his role in the world with pure, unbothered peace, making him the emotional anchor that holds Gumball’s fragmented psyche together. He is able to be kind and patient, sometimes using systems against itself because of how well integrated he is with the opposite Resonance.
INVERSE SELF: (P)EAI
(Pessimistic)Egoist-Active-Introvert
When Gumball forces Darwin to drop his passive altruism and "speak his mind," Darwin overcorrects into his exact inverse. He becomes highly critical and deeply cynical of everyone, and focuses on what makes someone annoying to him in order for them to no longer annoy him.
OVERVIEW:
Darwin is a moral compass to Gumball in the show and often finds himself being the one that corrects his mistakes. He allows himself to take part in the chaos of Elmore and tries his best to help those in need.
