Since the advent of Soundcloud, Gizmo’s been grinding, uploading music, and trying to get on. For years, blog and tastemaker cosigns had eluded him, but that never seemed to slow him down or discourage him from following his dream. Now, after years of putting in hard work and making things happen with no outside help, he’s finally starting to build a very tangible buzz, and he has no one to thank for that but himself. It’s a classic, self-made music story that could only be possible in 2017, and I’m sure the rest of the tale will continue down the road to success from here.

“Derelicts, Marauders, Savages” by Rozz Dyliams prod. by Purpdogg

Hip-hop is a form of art, expression, creativity, and all that good stuff, but more than anything else, it’s a hustle. Since its inception, the genre’s been about giving an opportunity to the disenfranchised to make a way in the world for themselves. For that reason specifically, I respect the grind and work ethic in the rap game more than anything else, and Rozz Dyliams and Purpdogg have demonstrated it flawlessly. With “Derelicts, Marauders, Savages” being at least their third full length together, and each having dozens of other projects under their belts, these two are a couple of the hardest working in the game, and that’s something anyone with a true appreciation for the genre can admire.
