#Story: Three bracelets. Different sentiments. Tri-color, of course, for cultural purposes. The roots. The silver bangle belonged to my great-grandmother and had been given to me when she was on her beginning journey to the Lord. But the third one, made of amethyst stones, is the reason for this post. October is recognized as Domestic Violence Awareness month. Theme color: purple. The benefits of amethysts: healing. Since I could remember, even as young as 2 to 3 years old, I have encountered domestic violence throughout my life. Unfortunately, this is not a unique story... I will soon be certified to work with women who’ve escaped domestic violence. My goal is to help bring healing to them through creative arts and testimonial theater. One art I would love to bring to them is jewelry making for the purpose of meditation and seeing how you can take fragments of something to create a whole piece of art. This bracelet is a reminder that domestic violence is a cycle that goes on and on until the cord is broken. To be freed, I had to break the cycle. However, there are millions of other circles out there. The butterfly reminds me that my healing process is a miraculous, continuous metamorphosis taking place in every facet of my life (I will post this beautiful purple butterfly given to me by my aunt). This can be true for so many other women. Abuse never stops until the beast is brought under submission by helping our women to a place of physical safety and physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual rehabilitation. Our girls depend upon our stories. Don’t let any man intimidate you from speaking out. Awareness, testimony, and education are vital. Not just for October, but for every daggone day. #domesticviolenceawareness #womenshealth #purpleribbons #ywca #testimonialtheatre #healing #amethyst #healingcrystals #speakup #blackgirlsrock #christianwomenwriters
