Hey. I have a banana board and I read your review on them. In the review you talked about the hardware being difficult to replace because of the lack of availability, but I was wondering how to even remove the hardware. My skate tool seems to be too thick to fit in between the trucks and the nut at the bottom of the board so I can't unscrew the hardware. I wanted to know because one of them is too loose and it makes an annoying sqeaky noise when I ride. Thanks.
Hi! Which one do you wanna unscrew?
If it’s the hanger you want to remove from the base plate, then any skate tool will be able to remove it. You’ll use the 9/16” (usually largest) socket for this.
If you want to remove the trucks itself from the board (which involves separating the base pate from the board), you’ll need a WRENCH and not a socket for this. A socket won’t fit, so you’ll need a wrench to hold the screws.
If you have no wrench, you can use a hex key to unscrew the 4 screws on TOP of the board, but you’ll still need something to hold the screws under the board. You can use pliers to held the screws still.
Some skate tools won’t have a hex key, since it’s a less commonly used tool than the others. Wrenches are pretty easy to find, I’m sure you have one lying around in your house, you just need to pick the right size (I think it’s the 3/8” one).
I hope this answers your question! If it doesn’t just shoot me another ask :) Skate safe!
