I used to be mad at the way things were. I used to blame myself for why the people in my life were so mean, or so sad, or so angry. But then I grew up. And I realized that it wasn't my fucking fault; that everything wasn't always my fault. I stopped fighting with them, I stopped craving their approval. I stopped chasing people who didn't want to stay on their own. And here I am. Happy most of the time, content when I'm not; and absolutely fucking proud of the people I dropped and the decisions I made. This is my life. I wasn't going to ruin it myself by letting toxic people destroy me. If they aren't making you better, they're making you worse. You can live without them. Trust me.
