Teenage girlhood takes over at the greenhouse!

Rocky blinked and both his daughters were nearly as tall as we was. Overnight, Myrtle had started rapid firing at the dinner table about the boy she liked at school; he was super cute and nice and they were partners for the science project and got an A, and could he come over to swim in the pool sometime, please? Of course, Rocky agreed, as long as she didn't think it was too uncool if he and Daisy swam as well. Why should the elders miss out on a sunny afternoon?

Meanwhile, Venice had only just exited pre-teendom. She still touted the cuteness of Pushpa the cat over any boy (though she had also indicated boys were not her preference at all, should she start dating). So the only new person Daisy and Rocky were meeting was Gallagher Monty, who was a very polite young man who didn't mind hanging out with other family members at all, as he had a large family home with a pool too. It was adorable to see the usually headstrong Myrtle shyly working to find the right words to say to the boy when he arrived. Ah, young love!

Among the waves of life, Daisy and Rocky were pulled to each other's shores. Now they're navigating raising daughters without the last generation's lighthouse. Will the greenhouse survive the storms?

VeronaHills, Round Twenty Eight: Beech

"See! What'd I tell ya? Pushpa taught herself how to use the toilet!"

It was an unlikely milestone for a cat but Pushpa hit it nonetheless, with Rocky rushing to show his oldest teenage daughter. They got to the bathroom just in time to see the pawing of the toilet lid, as if to cover what had been done with imaginary litter, and Myrtle raised one eyebrow, not wanting to look too uncool by overreacting. Nobody could figure out how such an old cat had learned a new trick; the moment was later spoken of fondly when the family said goodbye to Pushpa at the pet cemetery.

In that same time, Briar's birthday was celebrated. To his credit, he still had the biggest smile on his face, even after only just experiencing a loss. Proud father Basil had a theory that his boy absorbed lots of sunlight when he was a seedling.

As Rocky let his tears dry on a summer's day, he decided he liked that theory, very much.
