The solution to Loren's sun aversion was right in the family backyard.

The theory was simple but not without potential consequences for Loren's mortality, so he asked Virginia and Gabriella to help him test it safely. Gabriella was a naturally strong swimmer and had recently done a lifeguard internship, in which she 'saved' a few swimmers feigning floundering about while training, so she volunteered to retrieve Loren if anything went wrong. Virginia had a fully charged phone in her bum bag ready to call for help, too.

Now for Loren's part to play. He sprinted from the beach house to the waves, his skin smoking as he flew across the sand. The waves were coming in gently today but he hit them with a clumsy crash before finally getting shoulder deep. He turned and gave the girls a thumbs up.

"There he goes. I don't see any smoke. Do you, Gab?"

"No." Gabriella was still watching her uncle bob around, determined to be ready for anything, just in case. But the fact remained: the telltale sign of the sun singing Loren's skin was gone. It was the middle of the day, in the full heat of the middle of summer, and he wasn't holed up under the sunlamp in his shed with the blinds drawn. Whether it was the salt of the sea protecting him, or Virginia's half-joking theory that he was a merman, he could now join his family in the sun.

It was the best birthday gift Loren could ask for.

Alpha House, Day 19, Part 3

Now she's graduated, Goldie's got plenty of time to make breakfast for everyone.

Rocky: Hi, Vidalia!

I wonder if he's talking about Vidalia's sister Pearl's "affair" with Woody?

Rocky just can't wait for Delta to get here!

Goldie's enjoying being graduated, and happy she can stick around until Luke finishes his semester.

Meanwhile, Rocky's had a date want for most of this semester. He has good chemistry with Vidalia, who he ran into on his community lot wander, but he didn't autonomously interact with her in a romantic way, or roll any specific wants for her, so I think he's waiting for Delta.

Goldie and Rocky’s daughter Coral was all grown-up now, already in LGU. For Rocky, though, she’d always be his little girl.

Orphans Triumphant

Well! Somebody's got his goal firmly in mind!

Gabriella finds that Connor the Conure is a great person to confide in. "So Gallagher knows about lube now. I can't wrap my head around it!"

Since Rocky's going to live back home with Mom and Dad, and they already have a piano, he's given the residence piano to Gavin and Sadie for a wedding present. This leaves him with a lot of time on his hands, which he spends blogging about music.

Gavin sees no reason to wait to go home and marry Sadie. They need him in that house! So he throws his party as soon as he feasibly can. Herbert and Faith are feeling a bit under the weather and send their apologies, but that's all right - he'll be right there with them soon enough. A little too much with them, even. It's clear they need help, but he's not certain how the living arrangements are going to shake out.
