Via the mail? No. I’ve sent carrier pigeons with invitations but the poor birds always turn up on my doorstep riddled with bullet holes and a note that says “please do not contact the kremlin again.”

16) What would you give Putin for his birthday and why?

Donald Trump? Is that too cliche? I think it solves two problems at once: first, Trump’s supporters will feel betrayed by their candidate’s defection and American nationalist extremism will decrease; then, of course, I will have succeeded as ultimate matchmaker, having brought together a perfect couple.

a person whose name is vladimir would never call himself vlad in russia. rather volodya or vova (vlad is vladislav). however, vlad vladimirovich sounds much nicer than the "correct" variants, so i guess this is just a ~the more you know~ ask
