Some SWTOR-related musings

Okay, so brief history here: the main server I play on is the Jedi Covenant. I love this server because not only is it active without becoming TOO active, but the people in the guild I’ve joined are the nicest, most patient, and most enjoyable people to be around that I think I’ve ever met online. Guildies, you are all incredible. Thanks for helping to make this game so wonderful. :-) Also, having a wide selection of items on the GTN doesn’t hurt. :p

However, I am fully aware that I am not really what one would consider a particularly ‘good’ player, and I know for a fact that the failure of several of the ops that I have participated in in recent months have likely been my fault (The Ravagers and Dread Fortress spring to mind). Now, being the sweethearts that they are, said guildmates are too nice and polite to say so publicly, but trust me: I know this is true. When I suspect that an operation’s failure is my fault, I feel really stressful and anxious and I tend to take a break from the game. Again, this is no one’s fault but my own; I just don’t like my personal failings to affect other people. :( Let me just restate this because it’s important: No one has said or done anything to drive me away.

With this sort of anxious nature of mine I thought I would take a bit of a break from my regular server to just try out another low population server (Jung Ma) for several reasons:

1). I actually am very interested to see how well I manage as a player without all of the bonuses that I’ve accrued on my main server (such as class buffs, all of the Legacy level-required add ons, etc.). The result? Better than I thought, but man do I miss my rocket boost.

2). I wanted to see if playing on a PVP-specific server would be as frustrating as I thought. Result? Only a little; the PVP flag is forced on you, but due to the low population I had little encounters with people bugging me during my PvE leveling (only once on Tatooine).

3). I wanted to see how well (or poorly) the changes to class skills were made since I first started playing the game. Result? Some of the changes were for the better but ultimately I don’t think I like them all that much. Unload was moved from level 4 to level 15 (and only for Mercs, I think?) Dick move, BioWare.

I think I am going to slowly and casually ease my way into PVPing on JC only so I can get enough comms to get an outfit and maybe a few decos from the vendors (as well as a couple crystal schematics), but that’ll be it. No hardcore PVPing for me; I only want to get a variety of PVP-specific shit.

Of course, all of this will only happen once I’ve redownloaded the game since the last time I tried to remove BitRaider, I screwed it up and it failed. :-P
