he’s carrying a large box in his arms into his new home. it’s a drastic change to what he was used to ------- cold stone walls and metal bars locking him in like a caged animal. he wasn’t a bad person, he just made some bad choices. one’s that he regretted. one’s that landed him in here. the outside world was now foreign to him, civilization was like some fantasy world. and he was tossed into it with his bag of belonging and a half-hearted ‘good luck’.
he had a large family ----- a decent family. someone lent him a truck to get around in and even sent some money his way to help get him on his feet. hopefully he could make it last until he found a job that would hire him.
he had only a few boxes in the back of his truck filled with his belongings from before he was put away. and he’s on his way to retrieve another one when someone catches his eye. in prison, you learn to be aware of your surroundings always. gaze shifting to the side, he sees her. hesitantly, and without words, he offers a small smile and a wave.
