I can see why everyone hates Recipe for Turnabout. I won't go into the whole Armstrong thing. I think we can all agree it's extremely dated 2000s humor that we can all agree is problematic.
My biggest gripe is the narrative! What a waste! The premise is weak AF and it should have been in the 2nd game.
I know the history of that case already. It was 1 of 5 written for Justice For All and got scrapped due to time conatraints. Then it was added to Trials and Tribulations during production.
But...it would have fit so much better in game 2! Like, imagine if Phoenix's "phone evidence" wasn't a bluff, but actually phony evidence to get Maggey out of being wrongfully convicted. Imagine how much harder Edgeworth's speech about what it means to be a lawyer would hit! It would bring up the idea of "ends justifying the means" before the dilemma of pursuing truth vs saving Maya.
Also, I hated how the plot turned out. Don't get me wrong, it is way better than anything I would have written and I understand the writer was rushed by Capcom. Kudos to him, honest!
But I was so so excited to hear about the fake Phoenix wright! Who was this guy? What was his motive?? Was it someone who hates Phoenix for a justified reason? Like a relative of someone thrown in jail because of Phoenix?
No? Just guy who owes money to the mafia? Okay...
The only case where I followed the walkthrough to skip it as fast as I could.
I'm sorry.
