I used to think to myself "oh the game being about relationships is so fitting because it's the second game there's two people in a relationship. i can make this about protege and academic" and I figured it was a stretch. like bro the number 2 isn't Protege and Academic. And now I'm watching the Shygeta interview and that is precisely why they made the game have a relationship mechanic. So I'm not crazy and never was. This is a win

rewatching the dd2 cinematics (as I do) and it just processed in my brain that when academic was about to depart he holds his hand out... he was offering another handshake... just like the past.... my heart

the texas chainsaw massacre asymmetrical horror game is a really interesting concept and it's too bad it doesn't have a lot of traction anymore

#a lot of asym horror tries to repeat the dbd formula #the idea of the “bad” troupe being a team as well as the “good” troupe makes the family scarier #and the victims needing to not make any noise & find 1/3 ways to escape #is very faithful to the source material i think #the idea of a stealth/control asym horror instead of a survive/kill one is a very interesting spin on the genre #and it's a concept that not a lot of asym horror games can get correctly #these games oftentimes try and make stealth an option for the “good” troupe but it's never the core of the game #seeing that it is the core for tcsm game is really nice #and circling back on the family being a team #you never ever see asym horror make it team vs team because it's almost always unfair to the people with the lower player count #but when the victims and the family are so very clearly not on the same playing field it evens that out very nicely #and it's fun! to see the family being a team #idk as a hunter main on idv it does get lonely not being able to really play with my friends #the only real options are a few modes (and i literally refuse to play tarot because you just get bullied for ten minutes)#it makes the game less lonely for one and for two the game really does just become a battle of wits #which i find very fun #when the first came out two years ago i obsessively looked for gameplay videos #and to find out there isn't much more gameplay than there was on release made me a bit sad #i straight up thought the game shut down at some point BECAUSE of the lack of videos #another reason why im disappointed is because the first tcsm movie was one of my favorite horror movies at the time too #(i still haven't watched the sequels)#so it feels like a waste of a good ip #this is kinda the problem when you soft launch stuff unfortunately #it's not like it was open beta but the people who streamed the beta were all huge streamers #and everyone's curiosity with the game concept was satiated by the gameplay they saw by the streamers #when it wasn't truly representative of the final product #and now the curious players you could've had probably won't come back since they've already been satisfied by the soft launch #not to mention that giving a beta to only a few streamers meant that interested players wouldn't even be able to play it yet #long tags #pxtalks

"memory is the hearth that warms the mind." protege recreates the academic with their memory, yes, but in a way the academic does that with protege as well... we never actually get to see, hear, or get to *know* the protege, we only know what they were like from the academic's narrations. it's the memory they have of each other that brings the world to life. and that's just beautiful to me
