#my art #feralnette au #birds of a feather #long tags #sorry I went apeshit in the tags #LETS SAY IT ALL TOGETHER NOW #I - M - A - G - OOOOOOOOO #its fun drawing marinette's back to Alya and having her appear stout and unstoppable and totally logical #and then you see her face and she's like two seconds from completely snapping and is keeping it together by a thread #as a note just because mari feels very certainly abt smth doesnt mean she's right. feelings can be valid and also irrational #in the throes of grief she decided it was better to be alone than to lose someone again so she started pulling away #and lila made pulling away very very very easy to do #shes also vaguely aware she's being unfair in pinning this on alya which is why she started spinning the drain on cockmoth again #legitimately all the shit that's happened to her wouldn't have been so catastrophic if he was never in the picture and she knows it #but the bitterness of her bestie choosing a fantastic liar over her at the worst of times stiiiiiings #alya's personal timing was bad but lila really took advantage of the fact that marinette had been acting off and weird #she basically clocked marinette as being unstable from SOMETHING and made up a lie about her #knowing she wouldn't have the strength to defend herself #between her social life going tachy bc of lila and losing fu in a way that felt like personhood death marinette was really put on the spot #and alya doing her thing of busting in there and assuming her bias is correct was a terrible combo #essentially marinette is highly unstable and alya is just realizing that #busting in and giving her a lecture when she's slightly hysterical and definitely delirious from exhaustion is NOT the way #to show her she's self sabotaging #cuz thats just gonna make her double down on self sabotaging. bc marinette will not accept that she is also a CHIIIIILD

Claudia truly had the most insane character introduction I’ve ever seen.

For the first three episodes all we know is that there’s a shadowy figure hacking the Warehouse that Artie is desperately pretending isn’t going to get in, and we watch them very clearly get in.

Then comes episode four and Claudia is, one) Claudia (young, female, looks like shit, semi-crazy), two) in the Warehouse, and three) kidnapping Artie with electrified handcuffs.

We spend the next 35 minutes going from thinking she’s going to kill Artie, to thinking she’s actually psych ward insane (that picture did her no favors), to thinking she’s very tragic in the way villains are tragic, back to insane, so on and so forth.

Like, that whole performance, both the writing and Allison Scagliotti’s acting, is so good. Because as you’re watching you’re getting a very complete picture of this character, even as she’s getting more sympathetic or we understand what’s going on more, you still kind of get the feeling that we could be watching her villain origin story. And we literally don’t settle out of that until Joshua is saved.

And like, in hindsight? Everything she was doing was, maybe not rational, but it made complete sense, the logic checked out and while it was extreme it wasn’t irredeemable or anything. It’s crazy because despite your first impressions watching the episode she’s still the same character we see through the next five seasons, just incredibly desperate, and running out of time, and dying.

So it’s like, there’s two completely different images you get of this character from this episode and they’re both true to her, it’s literally just a difference in circumstance.

Incredible, no one was doing it like her.

#not to mention how well it set up literally everything else about her we see in the next five seasons #she’s a genius hacker and inventor she can break into the warehouse and recreate a different genius’s recreation of a third genius’s experi #ent. she’s brutal and angry and snarky and willing to do whatever necessary but she also checked herself into a psych ward when she started #having visions. she was willing to kill herself to get her brother back she did everything on her own until she had no choice #she didn’t want to ask for help so she took it by force until that didn’t work anymore #she gained a deep understanding of how an artifact worked that clearly followed her as she modified warehouse equipment and later became #caretaker. she’s been on all sides of artifacts. victim. close to victim. witness to artifact misuse. later an agent and the one who misuse #artifacts herself. it’s all incredible set up and it makes me insane #Claudia Donovan #character of all time #wh13 #warehouse 13 #long tags #<- been a long time since I remembered that tag #anyway if you don’t like Claudia but you’re in the wh13 tags I suggest you block me because now that my rewatch has started imma be yapping

me: the problem with people trying to rewrite "The Fate of Ophelia" while keeping it a love song is that it simply doesn't work that way. you can't reverse Ophelia's fate with a love story. you need to write a song about a woman who finds her autonomy and is able to escape the environment that was suppressing her.

#anti Taylor Swift #<- because some of her fans are apparently quite protective of her bastardization of Ophelia #also the references to Ophelia being in a tower... #when i was in second grade i loved loved LOVED frozen #it was my favorite movie #but i started to feel really insecure about it in like fourth grade because it was “too girly”#so i pretended i hated it vehemently (to myself and others)#and then in fifth grade i made friends with a boy who admitted that he secretly loved it and i was like “oh my god me too!”#and after that whenever our other friends didn't want to go a movie or whatnot because it was “too girly” we just went with each other #i have good memories of us recreating scenes from the greatest showman in my room #because of course we loved the ham-handed queer/disabled circus movie #after a while i think the homophobia he experienced as a kid got internalized and the friendship soured cause he got mean #but those were a good few years #transandrophobia #long tags
