What’s this? A new fanspecies from yours truly?

Finally got around to spriting these. I’ve had this idea for a rock human based fanspecies for a while, which eventually turned into greek statue inspired fanspecies- the Pygmalions! featuring, Rose, a pristine Pygmalion, and Dirk, a not-so-pristine Pygmalion.

All Pygmalions have halos following the back of their head. These halos are also referred to as their “eye”, not because the Statues use them to see, but because it is how to tell if a Statue is awake or not. Sleeping statues have no halo, but as soon as they wake up, the halo appears too.

Speaking of sleeping, Pygmalions are as hard as actual statues when they sleep, but when they’re awake, their flesh and hair feel more human like. Sleeping is basically them turning to stone.

Pygmalions do not blink, and they do not have pupils, but they still use their eyes to see. They don’t even close their eyes when they sleep, like snakes.

Pygmalions’ are not very expressive. Their faces rarely change from their neutral expressions, giving them all perpetually serene and/or stoic faces regardless of their actual mood.

Pygmalions have shiny gold blood, the same color as their halos. Scars are also gold, and not only are they extremely visible, they never fade. If a Pygmalion is severely injured when they are sleeping, i.e., Dirk getting decapitated, they can be put back together if someone is around to help.

Pygmalions are their official names, but they are also referred to as “the statues” in universe. They are a rare species, living on a planet with multiple other species (humans included). They’ve been known about for a while, but only fairly recently (as in, a couple of decades) been mingling with society. The reason it took so long was because they were- and still are- creatures who value their solitude. They don’t even seek the companionship of each other, let alone other species.

Much of how Pygmalions operate is still a mystery, as Pygmalions are a secretive bunch. How they spawn is a mystery, as is how they learn to speak and operate when none of them seem to have any parents to teach them. Legend says that Pygmalions are reincarnations of fallen angels who are unable to go back to Heaven, and instead fell to earth where their souls lay dormant in the earth before they emerge once more as a statue/Pygmalion. That’s just a theory, though.

Pygmalions didn’t use to wear clothes, that was kinda imposed on them when they started participating in society. They stick to wearing tunics or other similar garments. They don’t tend to wear pants, though it’s not unheard of.

Assuming they participate in SBURB, god tiered Pygmalions will gain angel like wings. 

As for their names.... I was thinking 6 letters, with all ending in -(vowel)L? Like, Rosael and Diriel. That’s how angels usually are, right?
