Chiamugg. Chiamug. His Mark.
Wangunk. Chiamug’s homelands extending from and beyond the eastern side of the Kwinitekw (Connecticut) River and west to Mattabesett (Middletown, Connecticut) and north to Pyquag (Wethersfield, Connecticut).
This mark appears on the same deed described in our previous post, describing land at the place now called “Haddam, Connecticut.”
Wangung is translated into English to mean “the people at the bend in the river.”
