So I got a Pyragon (for one reason or another) and figured I'd give it a quick review.
First up, out of the box I noticed the drum. It's huge! 40 discs is the biggest capacity magazine Nerf have ever put into production. It has an interesting mechanism: there's a sweeper arm that needs to be actuated every 10 discs to sequester the other discs away and allow more to be loaded. It's reasonably jam free but very big, bulky and heavy.
The blaster itself is a step away from the normal Vortex colour scheme. The very crisp, red and white is a nice change from the ugly green and red of its Vortex predecessors. It features slam fire with a novel foregrip. I found the handle to be annoying as hell. The loop argues with my thumb a lot and will probably make it a little sore over the course of a few matches.
The slam fire feature is what sets the Pyragon apart from the rest of the Vortex line. The nature of Vortex discs means that firing this thing at full feels like you're hosing an area down. Good for short bursts of heavy clearance, the Pyragon would offer a great heavy blaster were it not so bulky. Put a stock on the back end and it becomes a little easier to wield but I'd still take my Stampede over it any day.
