The first quarter of Pyras is so interesting because that's the part of the series where the vampires really show what soulless, unempathetic demons they actually are. I would give some examples but there are simply too many.

I'm sorry, but whenever I read the scene at the end of Pyras, where Malcolm is running from the angry mob that consists of Luciano and Franz Leopold with Latona, this is what I see in my mind:

I mean, they are the dedn variant of Bella and Edward just in victorian, european, and cooler...
