To introduce the Crossgen Universe, the first issue of the quarterly comic Crossgen Chronicles was released with a June 2000 cover date. The company started out as an independent publisher in Florida, but was scooped up by Disney in 2004 when they were going into bankruptcy. In 2010, Disney turned the properties over to Marvel to use. Crossgen was an early adaptor to making comics available online. The first issue was 48 pages and took place on Earth 21371 and introduced Giselle, Sam, Ethan, Sephie, Genevieve, JeMerik Meer, Zanniati Orbatta, Skink, Ilahn, Ilan, House Sinister (Ingra, Gannish, Orium), House Dexter (Pyrem, Yala, Trenin), Bron, Skitter, Roiya, The First, The Skit, Ciress, and the Bitterluck.
