Animal Collective- Prester John
Animal Collective is back with a new single “Prester John” and I’m enjoying it relative to the most robust/rambunctious Animal Collective tracks this is something of chill psych-rock song with nice harmony and a broad layered sonic palette and I like that. It’s not the claustrophobic sound that dominated a lot what was on Painting With. Give the new “Prester John” a listen
Painted Palms - "Forever" (Forever)
These guys seem to be coming on strong - I keep randomly seeing mentions of them, and just today (after I had already decided to send this track out) I got an advance of the full length album, out in January on Polyvinyl. I haven't had a chance to listen yet, but if it's anything like this track, I know I'll be a fan. Painted Palms are cousins from Louisiana that now live in San Francisco and their music is a bit psych-rock friendly. They put out an EP on Secretly Canadian a few years back, but this will be their first full-length. Cool.
