Applications
Applications for artist and writer spots will be open from November 25 to December 14. LINKS (To be posted when apps open): Artist App: [..] Writer App: [..]
Requirements:
For artist apps, please include a link to a Google Drive folder containing 3 to 4 of your art pieces. (Here’s how you can share folders on Google Drive – make sure yours is set so Anyone with the link can view). At least one should be explicit (NSFW), and at least one should be fully finished (color + background). You can also express interest in being a merch artist, pinch hitter, or collabing with a writer via the app.
For writer apps, please include a link to one Google Drive document with up to three samples of your writing between 500 and 2,500 words total. (Here’s how you can share files on Google Drive – make sure yours is set so Anyone with the link can view). This means you can choose one work (or an excerpt from one work) with a word count no more than 2500 words, or excerpts or full works up to 3 works, but the total word count of all samples must not exceed 2500. Zines are very limited in space, so it is a good measure for us to know how well you do with word limit restrictions.
Please choose sample(s) that you are proud of, and that are NSFW in nature. You can also express interest in being a beta reader, pinch hitter, or collabing with an artist via the app.
Do I need to create new material?
No, you don’t have to! We’re more than happy to look through work you’ve already posted, and in fact would prefer at least one of them is available on a public website. If you want to submit pieces you’ve done for another zine, but are not yet allowed to post those in public, you may submit them as well provided your zine mods have given you express permission to do so.
Do my samples have to be about Bakugou?
No, they don’t have to be, although it would help us get a gauge for how you write or draw Bakugou.
Do my samples have to be in BNHA?
This is not required either, but as with the question about Bakugou, it would help us get a gauge for how you write or draw characters in the BNHA universe.
Do my samples have to be NSFW?
At least one sample should be, yes. While we have had “tamer” submissions in Bed Riot, our preference is to review samples of explicit material (‘Explicit’ in this case means either visible genitalia and/or visible penetration). If you are uncertain about submitting pieces of this nature, then this may not be the zine for you. Note: Merch samples do not have to be NSFW, since they will be spicy but not explicit.
What kind of NSFW are you looking for?
We’re looking for your best NSFW. What do you enjoy creating, what have you been most proud of? We are open to a range of smut styles whether they’re filth with feels or kinky fuckery.
Can I be an anonymous contributor/participate under a pseudonym? No, you cannot be anonymous. You must link to at least one social media account and contributors will be expected to reblog/retweet posts from the zine. If you consistently post with a NSFW account, that’s fine, but your social media cannot be made just for the zine, though – we will not allow newly created pseudonyms. If you are uncertain about being connected with Pound Zero, then please reconsider applying.
How would you evaluate writing applications?
We are looking for strong characterization, a solid grasp in grammar and spelling, and ability to hook readers in with compelling writing in a short amount of time. Zines have shorter page counts so your effectiveness in conveying ideas in fewer words will also especially come in handy. This is why our 2500 max word count is a hard limit.
How would you evaluate artist applications?
Artists will be evaluated based on overall appeal, mastery of anatomy, coloring technique (backgrounds included!), and compositional skills. Zine pieces are fully colored so we would like to see your full illustrations to have a better idea of what your zine submission might look like.
How many of each pairing will you take? For writers, each fic must be of a different pairing since the amount of written pieces is limited. For art pieces, we will allow some repeats as long as the concepts behind them are different. For example, in Bed Riot the highest number of pieces for any one ship was 3. We are looking to represent a wide range of styles, ships, and scenarios. The app will ask what you are interested in doing, so please answer with all pairings or ideas you would love to bring to life for the zine.
Does popularity/follower count matter?
No, it does not. Do the mods have any triggers/squicks applicants should avoid in samples?
App samples can contain any kink, even the ones that will not be allowed in the zine itself. There’s no need to worry about avoiding potentially triggering material for the mods’ sake -- we have at least one that will be OK with reading anything.
Can I apply as a writer and an artist?
Yes – you can submit applications to both positions, but you may only be accepted for one.
