Z: I'm really hoping Eli's face is still in one piece.
come with me || riley
School was a stressful place for Riley, and Zane knew it all too well. More often than he was prepared to admit, he wondered if his presence around him in school was only fanning the flames. Riley would always have to be on guard, being a member of the notoriously homophobic football team. It was a risk any athlete ran, as unfortunate as it might have been. But Zane had been doing his best to keep a safe distance from Riley while at Degrassi. Far enough to seem indifferent, but not so far as to inadvertently draw more attention. It’d only been a little over a full week of school, and already, he was finding the balancing act exhausting. Sometimes, Zane felt like he had one foot back in the closet himself. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for Riley, but he couldn’t deny how tricky the situation was. One wrong move, and Riley could easily become the latest topic in the halls. He knew all too well that the other boy probably had nightmares about the fear coming to fruition. He wanted to comfort him and say it would never happen, but that wasn’t a guarantee Zane could give. Watching Riley walk on eggshells every day was the very last thing he could have wished for him.
Zane figured the least he could do was offer some sort of escape. Even if they had to go a bit out of the way, (farther than Zane would have preferred, but he realized it was worth the extra effort) he wanted Riley to know that all their precautions were amounting to something good. By the end of their senior year, they’d be free of all the tiptoeing and careful planning--free to express their relationship however they wished. In the meanwhile, Zane was going to do everything he could to make their bond feel as normal as humanly possible. This weekend’s itinerary consisted of forgetting about the rest of civilization and going camping together. Though he wasn’t all that outdoorsy himself, he’d always wanted the opportunity to give it a shot -- especially with Riley by his side. All week, he’d been fantasizing about falling asleep under the stars and walking the trails hand in hand with his boyfriend, without having to worry about prying eyes. As the pair arrived, Zane parked his car and turned to Riley, taking the boy’s hand and squeezing it firmly. “I’m hoping you know how to pitch a tent, in more ways than one.” he teased, tipping his head in the direction of the supplies in the trunk of his car. “Because I’m perfectly clueless. We’ll have to figure it out together.” Lifting their coupled hands to his lips, Zane kissed his knuckles, looking him in the eyes. “We’re going to have a great weekend, Ry.”

Z: You looked so damn good today, I have to say. You're welcome for picking out your outfit~
you're a hypocrite. you threaten to out riley, which could really mess up his entire life, but you defend adam when he gets outed by fitz? it should go both ways, even if riley's not as close to you as adam is. you can't just pick and choose who you treat with respect.
OK anon look there's nothing wrong with being gay so I doubt it would ruin his life but there's also the fact that I don't actually plan to tell anyone. Do you really think I would do that after this? But Riley doesn't need to know that.
