@qilingraces whispered: "Lisa, you can not hide your fate from me.." - Mona
The librarian froze in her reading, taking a few moments to look up at the other mage.
❝ Ah! Whatever do you mean, sweetie? ❞
The sweet smile that followed her rather… ungraceful reaction seemed to look just as fabricated as her greeting. Her expression was that of politeness, but it was clear she seemed taken aback by the sudden comment.
So much so that even she realized it, and would sigh heavily — if anything, even a bit ashamed — seconds after her opening words; closing the book in front of her as she did so, preferring to cut the formalities short, now that there was no hiding anything from the other.
❝ So it would seem… I should have expected that, shouldn’t I? ❞ she chuckles, though the tone is more sheepish than one would anticipate, ❝ I’m sure you can understand though, right? Why would I ever want to concern others with my issues? It’s actually quite a simple concept. ❞
And it was for that exact reason she’d rather keep hiding her condition, Mona being able to see through her facade or not.
❝ Do not share it with anyone, especially not the traveler, poor thing… already has so much on their shoulders… Besides, I’d rather you be the first and last one that knows it. ❞ It was hard enough being by herself and powerless to do anything about it already, she didn’t need others looking down on her either. She’d much prefer being seen as lazy rather than weak.
❝ Ahem, anyway, is that all you wanted, dearie? Any books you’d like to take a look at? Perhaps something to eat…? ❞ If Mona wouldn’t be swayed by her words, a warm plate surely should do the deal…
After all, she wasn’t the only one that knew things.
