deciding it best to not draw attention to himself unless someone noticed his monthly trips to madam pomfrey, remus attempted to be a quiet person in the background during his years at hogwarts. however, this was thwarted by his new friends, who couldn’t help but to draw attention to themselves at any given moment.
as years went on, after contemplation remus found he did not mind becoming friends with james, sirius and peter much, compared to all the years of isolation he could have experienced. he learnt he could still go mostly unnoticed as the attention his friends drew was almost solely at themselves. if someone spoke about the marauders it was usually about james or sirius. remus didn’t mind; he preferred it. because although they - and later on, lily - knew about his lycanthropy, he knew it would be a different matter altogether if anyone else knew.
it taught remus to process and notice things the others didn’t, a valuable asset to grow with - especially in these times of war. after all, you should never underestimate the motivation and passion lying underneath a quiet man.
