The Darkling choosing Heartrenders as his closest companions is presented as favouritism, but let's be honest- he's a despised leader of widely hated minority, that's barely tolerated for their usefulness- who in his place wouldn't surround themselves with living lie detectors given the chance?
I was just thinking about this and I think effects of Parem on Heartrenders versus Healers should’ve been swapped, being able to raise the dead feels like it would make more sense for a Healer on Parem while mind control feels more like a Heartrender and it almost seems like it was gonna go in that direction? Setting aside what we saw with Anya in the first chapter with Nina being able to temporarily alter that guy’s emotions in the beginning and her insisting Grisha cannot control the brain, feels like Nina being able to control minds in the end would’ve been a full circle moment. I understand it’s actually altering Grisha’s perceptions but like wouldn’t it make more sense for a drug that’s basically just opening a Grisha’s third eye would allow Healer’s to sense corpses and bring them back to life while a Heartrender would now be able to fully sense/understand the brain enough to control it? Idk, I feel like the way Nina’s powers change after Parem doesn’t really make sense, I saw theory/headcanon once she’s actually using Merzost which makes more sense to me but not complete sense.

Sasha's Heartrenders and Oprichniki are very passive-aggressive motherly to him.
He doesn't eat, Fedyor gives a smile and says "You might be hungry, moi soverennyi. Eat."
And they also make borderline threats because Sasha is really careless with his health. And it's really funny to imagine if Alina saw that someone was border-line threatening Sasha and they got away with it, almost happily.
