Do you think they were implying Javier is in love with Teresa?
Hey anon, that wasn’t the impression I got - to me it seemed like Javier may have had a thing for Emilia, Boaz’s ex (who Boaz mentioned last episode). Boaz brings her up when he and Javier are chatting at the bar, and Javier is just silently glowering into this drink. When she comes up again during this ep’s Swamp Adventure, Javier suddenly fires his gun into the trees and races off, claiming to have seen the Birdman (or just reeeeallly wanting to change the subject!)
Other clues: why did Javier leave Mexico when they were apparently “living like kings” in Mexico? Javier says that had he stayed in Mexico, Boaz would have killed him (like he killed his brother Manuel), so maybe he was trying to remove himself from a potentially fatal love triangle. And jumped at the opportunity to come work for Teresa.
There was also the whole conversation about why Javier gave up smoking weed and Boaz assuming it was for a woman. The way Boaz gave it up for Emilia. But maybe weed-hating Emilia is the common factor here.
And for all of Boaz’s nonsense, we get a better picture of his relationship with Javier from their little swamp throwdown. Boaz apparently took Javier under his wing when he was a fat little kid nicknamed “Marzipan”, which could explain why Javier looks out for him and why he maybe wouldn’t have wanted to fight with him over a woman.
So I can see where you might get that idea from Boaz’s insinuations + the “previously on QOTS” clip where Rene is riling Javier up about Teresa. I could be wrong, and this is all just speculation, but I don’t think that’s where they’re going with this.
