anyway guys i'm qpr-ing everyone now so let's consider queerplatonic whitsantos but to me it's like polyam queerplatonic whitsantos where whitsantos are the anchor/primary partners and if the romantic partners don't get it then they get dumped, yknow?
like imagine toxic garsantos and garcia is irrationally jealous of trinity's relationship with dennis. doesn't understand why dennis comes first, why dennis is her primary contact, why dennis literally sleeps in her bed with her sometimes.
and maybe we imagine some hucklerobby. robby who's very gen x man confused about it but he's supportive and hey, he likes santos! if dating dennis means he gets trinity around as a package deal then, well, it could be a whole lot worse. and it's nice knowing dennis has a loving support system outside of just him, that there's people to catch him if robby's not there. he loves seeing trinity and dennis interact together, they remind him a lot of himself and jack. maybe in another life, in a different time, him and jack could've been like these two.
and maybe trinity sees how robby is with dennis, how robby is with her, and she realizes actually fuck this she deserves better than what garcia is giving her.
maybe in the midst of a messy breakup dennis tells her that robby asked him to move in and she thinks this is it. everyone's leaving her. she's lost it all she's run them all away. but dennis is quick to comfort "no no trin you didn't let me finish. he said you can move in too. package deal, right?"
and now the whitsantos pair is living at robby's place and trinity has her own room and dennis splits his time sleeping with robby and with trinity and robby likes that there's people around and his house no longer feels too big. it's full and there's love and laughter.
and maybe trinity finally gets up the courage to ask mel out. dennis has been pestering her for weeks to just do it, she obviously has a massive crush and even if mel's not interested she'll be nice about it! and then mel says yes. and when trinity explains that dennis is also her person, that he's a non negotiable, mel lights up because what do you mean the hot girl at work she's been crushing on likes her back AND is okay with this romantic relationship not becoming the central point of everything out of nowhere? because mel still has becca and even if she's not her caregiver anymore mel can't just walk away from that. and trinity is understanding of it? trinity has her own relationships she centers before romance?
i think that a story about qpr whitsantos is fundamentally a story about adaptive structures of love. it's a story about building relationships that work for and fulfill you regardless of what's considered "normal" or "acceptable." robby and mel are fine knowing trinity and dennis sleep in the same bed half the time. trinity is fine with the fact that mel is sometimes gone because she's with becca. sometimes becca is over at the whitsantos-robinavitch household. sometimes mel is kicking trinity out to go annoy dennis instead. sometimes robby is too tired and he's telling dennis to chatter mel and trin's ears off instead. qpr whitsantos would be about chosen family and the construction of support networks that are wholly unique to the individuals involved.
