There’s a lovely part of this early Eycte era interview where Alex and Miles quickly fall into brainstorming ideas, simply because the interviewer gets what they are trying to convey with the record. Miles gets excited from what he’s heard the interviewer say.
The ideas start surging out - there’s no stuttering or overthinking from Alex - he goes with the flow, but it’s interesting to see what direction he wants the ideas to take.
MK: WE’RE HERE! WE’RE HERE IN NEW YORK CITAY!
QRO: That’s like your opening landscape shot.
AT: Yes! Panning on the horizon.
MK: Widescreen! Black border! Narrow screen!
AT: Stars!* Mountains! A Blackened sky!
MK: With a crescent moon!*
AT: Is it another planet?* We don’t know yet!
MK: But we must suspect that it might be! Let’s look at it! Let’s look at it!
AT: So where are we going to go next from here? We must go into a scenario!
MK: We’re in a car and you’re in the passenger seat!**
AT: You’re shouting at me! Why are you shouting at me?
MK: “I’m saying come on! We got to go!”
AT: “Bad Habits!” he’s proclaiming! “Sick Puppet!” he goes on. Things, that don’t make a great deal of sense some times!
[laughs]
MK: I AM THE STRATOSPHERE!* YESSSSS!
* note Alex takes it from a New York landscape to thinking about stars and planets but Miles mentions the moon (of course he does - the moon is important to them!). Is Miles some of the initial inspiration behind TBHC even 2 years before it happens??
** I also like it how Miles is in the driving seat of their imaginary car, even though it’s years till he passes his test! 😂
