Root has always approached the Machine with reverence, but here that devotional posture belongs to Shaw. The Machine can show Root how to send a message to Shaw, but it cannot ensure that Shaw receives it, and it cannot save her. Root drops to her knees and whispers, “Shaw… please get this.” The Machine merely gives her the tools. Root places her faith in Shaw’s ability to hear her, hold on, and survive. She is not praying for Shaw. She is praying to her.
Another scene I adore. “QSO” is easily one of my all time favorite episodes of the series.
