Are elementals a human-only thing, or is it possible for animals to have the genetic anomaly too?

Are there sub-categories of elementals? Like maybe metal being a sub of earth?

Yes, there can be! It’s rare, though, most sub-categories are created through mixing genetics of two different elementals.

But there are situations where there are subcategories just of one elemental. Metal is certainly a sub-category of earth, as an example. Sound is a subset of Air, as another example. Ice can be a subset of water, but it’s also a combination of air and water.

There are a few others, but there’s so many possibilities, I couldn’t list them all off on their own.

How about an electricity elemental?

Electricity elementals are actually quite common! They’re one of the core elements, so they’re both prevalent and the building block of other elemental powers.Electricity elementals are one of the most coveted elementals when it comes to work, as they can provide raw power and electricity to places if they’re powerful enough. Subsets of electricity include storm elementals (Electricity and Air), Magnet Elementals (Electricity and Earth/Metal), and Plasma elementals (Electricity and Fire).Electricity elementals are also often more likely to be powerful elementals, because there are some demigod like beings on earth at this time. Just as the water elementals have merfolk present, the electricity elementals have Valkyries. Because Valkyries can be considered progenitors, electricity elementals are more likely to be powerful.

However, Valkyries aren’t pure progenitors in the standard sense, and aren’t as powerful as one. They are often considered level 9 or 10 elementals.Electricity elementals can have powers like shooting electric shocks from their fingers, attracting lightning, changing the polarity of a charge, and traveling through electric currents.Character Blurb: Lizbet Artlip is a Valkyrie considered a level 9 Electricity Elemental. She’s got almost complete control over electricity and can travel at super speeds. She can also ride horses and works at an electrical plant to generate power to the cities around her. Very good question!Good news is that I have an answer for you! Bad news: It involves numbers.So if you want the short answer, I’ll give it right now: Rare. The reason is that if an elemental is powerful, they either have parents with stronger elemental genes that combined and got more powerful, or they are very close to the progenitor in terms of ancestry.The long version:The percentage of elemental power levels is more like a bell curve than anything.

50% of people who have elemental powers (that’s 15% of the population) will have powers between level 4 and level 7. This is the average.

30% of the people with elemental powers (about  10% of the population) will have a level between 1 and 3, with very little power over anything at all, and mostly just minor abilities.Which leaves the remaining 20% of people who have strong powers of level 8 or above. That’s about 5% of the population.

How about a level 7 smoke elemental? : ?

Oh, this is most certainly possible! A smoke elemental would likely have a Fire elemental and an Air elemental somewhere in their ancestry, though a Fire and Wood heritage, while rare, is also possible. Fire is basically required for this elemental power to exist.

At level seven, powers would likely involve summoning smoke, dissolving into smoke, and the ability to travel/vanish using smoke bomb like techniques. An additional ability would be the ability to filter pollution out of the air due to the substances some smokes would be made out of, and the ability to breathe in contaminated air. This would prevent the elemental from choking on their own element.  They may also have minor control over things like haze, smog, and fog, but likely not much.Background Character Blurb: Dorian Mantel is a fifty year old overdramatic pyrotechnician who works with various famous celebrities and their concerts. He regulates the smoke effects and the fog on stage when things are needed, and he adores dramatic entrances. He has a cigarette addiction that he keeps saying he’s going to break, but never gets around to. Dimension or universe hopping powers??

Yes and no. It’s possible to a certain extent, but it’s more timeline hopping rather than universe or dimension hopping.This would normally fall under the Time Elemental umbrella, likely a level six or higher. They would be able to move from alternate time stream to alternate time stream at will.A good example of this is Ivan Vremyaov, a Level 7 Time Elemental from Russia. He can see the various offshoot timelines that occur when people make crucial choices in their lives, and can weave timelines back together so that the threads of time don’t get too tangled. To help manage this, he can jump from timeline to timeline to see the details of events that diverge.Character Personality Blip: Ivan always wears leather gloves with gold buttons because he likes to be fancy. His friends call him Vanya. He likes pretty women, cold climates, and knitting. He dislikes needless paperwork, alcohol, and snags in his clothes.
