Estradasphere - Mekapses Yitonisa
I just got this CD! This is a momentous occasion! I've been after this for years! It's been tough trying to find a copy for a decent price, since it's out of print and was only released on Web Of Mimicry, which is a pretty small label. This is probably the weakest album Estradasphere put out, which says an awful lot about how damn brilliant they were, because it's still really fucking good. Hardball is an absolutely killer tune and probably the highlight on the album (I would have posted that but it's 13 minutes, so no luck there). There's a few tracks which feel a little simple, but they're great tunes - the thing that sets them apart from most other simple songs is the level of detail these guys put in - the production, instrumentation and layering take them up to a level of greatness. Pretty much all of the technical aspects (engineering, production, mixing etc) were handled by the band themselves... I'm sure I've said it many a time, but pretty much every aspect of this band was great... They could compose some fucking incredible tunes, play the shit out of them, engineer their own recording sessions and have them turn out amazing and retained a good sense of humour in the music.
I still have to get It's Understood (currently the cheapest I can see that for is £18 - not gonna happen) and then probably The Silent Elk Of Yesterday, which is a weird EP/live album type thing.
Oh my goodness, oh my goodness. This is all kinds of amazing and inspiring.
