833. Quantock Ale. Quantock Brewery. 02/09/18
Not on the official list
ABV 3.8%
7.0/10
Beer of: England
A purchase from the brewery shop on our way to Caroline and Darren’s wedding. Drunk some weeks later at a barbecue at the Boyd house in the evening.
They say: Full bodied and malty with a dry finish and a fruity aroma, with hints of roasted malts.
I say: It was my turn to drive that night and I knew i best only have one beer. Most of what is left on the shelf is strong and lagery, then I spotted this. Ideal. Poured smoothly and gave off a pleasing aroma which was reminiscent of Christmas puddings. The taste was good too, with the promised malt and fruit flavours discernible, and only 3.8% to boot.

820. Quantock Stout. Quantock Brewery. 08/08/18.

ABV 4.5%
5.0/10
Beer of: England
A purchase from the brewery shop as we made our way to Caroline and Kevin’s wedding, drunk at home with tea..
They say: An award winning and distinctively, dark dry stout. Roasted barley and chocolate malts, with an aroma of citrus & Liquorice and chocolate and coffee flavours.
I say: A very lively brew with a considerable creamy head. Not much of an aroma and the taste was a little disappointing. There was practically none of the real stout flavours of coffee, chocolate or bitterness. Easy drinking but bland.
