Quarantale Lore.

Hazel and Gemini backstory.

So. I decided why not. I will share their overal backstory. I will not go into full details conserning some stuff because I want to keep some surprises for like. story parts (or the possible ask blog?)

But I will tell you a bit to show how they ended up a duo and why they kept together.

They met when Gemini was 8 and still going by their Deadname and was still perceived as a she/her. Back then Hazel dind't even have a true name as she had been a slave back then and forced to go by he/him.

It happened at a large cricus when Gemini, who was forced to attent with their old family and their future husband (yes. back then they wwere in an arranged marriage for when they turned 10) and they wandered off because they couldn't stand being with those people.

They happened to get backstage and see a bunch of animals in cages. Then in one of them. They saw Hazel. Hazel at the time was held in chains and her wings were injured. She was also muzzled but she was clearly pissed.

Gemini was shocked and couldn't understnad why someone would look the other away. Then, with an impulse decision, they went into the back and grabbed the keys. They returned to the cage and slowly unlocked each and every lock.

They were found out and guards stormed them. Hazel, who had been newly freed. Grabbed Gemini as a hostage to keep the others at bay. Gemini at the time was clearly wearing finer clothes and jewelery whihc signalled they had been part of a hihger hierarchy or at least property of a more powerful and respected family.

Hazel, thanks to this move, was able to back away from the guards and set flight, even when injured, and took Gemini with her. Msotly because that was her hostage.

In the end they landed a bit further away, well crash landed.

Hazel was grinning but soon realised she had gained a new shadow. Because Gemini? Was terrified and so was quick to follow after the other. The only person who they know sort of knew and who knew what was were as Gemini didn't.

Hazel HATED this at first.

Over time though... they grew closer. Hazel and gemini would start to see each other as actual siblings instead of seeing each other as someone who helped them escape their past lifes.

Together they discovered what they prefered. Gemini ended up confessing that the idea of being a girl or boy grossed them out. Hazel ended up confessing that she always liked the idea of being more feminine.

They ended up making it work.

Hazel picked her name to honor Gemini.

Gemini wears a bird mask to honor Hazel.

Both did things they regret but they now both love each other dearly and are a team.

Together they were on a mission to free other monsters. To make a new home and community where they can be themselves with people who think like minded.

Together they broke into a prison area and motivated the monsters to rebel.

And they end up succeeding.

The prison gets completely rebuild and repurposed to serve as their home.

The home of the Feather Clan. Their Nest.

Hazel is the leader and Gemini is seen as her heir as younger sibling.

(this is all pre tragedy and pre-meeting the main undertale gang.)

Another small drawing on Gemini <3

The last drawing was the design for when they were age 8 to 14.

This the design they get when they are 16 and more comfortable with the main crew in Quarantale.

Gemini, even when they are a skeleton doesnt have a frozen face because bones. They are very expressive and doesnt have a good pokerface.

They keep wearing ponchos and parkas as they prefer that. They would wear the like. Strikes equal of this AU to signal they are still a kid (thinking about going like. Specific bracelets to signal this)

They have tiny spots on their temple and shoulder blades. This is where, once they are 15 and Gaster is gone, start to grow a few feathers (gaster would pluck the feathers and steal them for research). The feathers are brown of colour.

The ones on the shoulder blade would also be able to let them smmon wings to fly with. But they need to practise with those.

The parkas Gemini ends up wearing later on have slits in the back to enable them to easily summon and use their wings.

Their feet are curved. Much like like rock climbing shoes. Meaning they are an amazing climber. But it gets uncomfortable if they need to walk for a long time or run for a longer time. They can dash and use the speed to take off though.

And their soul. Well. Yeah. That is a soul fusion. Something rare in this AU. As most soul fusions arent comfortable. A soul fusion happens when a human absorbs a monster soul OR when a monster absorbs a human soul. Sadly if this isnt done willingly the souls destroy one another.

The plucking of the feathers that gaster did was both to keep Gemini grounded and unable to fly. But also!! Because of the fusion soul nature. Gaster was trying to research how Gemini even existed.

Gemini thought hihi.

They do not like to eat vegetables.

They however. Love meat and really like bread.

They like fruit as snacks okay. But their favourite snacks are flowers.

Yup. Straight up flowers. They are careful and know what is poisonous and what isnt but that is what they eat.

They also love to eat stuff raw.

Papyrus did find out that having fresh bread with like some flower pasta/spread is also a hit with his picky sibling.

It is also why the Flowey in this universe doesnt bother Gemini.

He was going to scare them (becuase Papyrus was very protective of his sibling) and was firdt shocked to see them eat a flower.

More shocking was to see them eat a mouse RAW. like. They used their own claws (hand and feet) to skin it to get to the meat.

Gemini just vibing and looking at flowers

Flowey: hihi i am gonna scare them.

Gemini picks ans flower and bites the top clear off

Flowey: ... oh.

Gemini just looks up. Climbs a tree and just. Drops down and catches a mouse which they eat.

Flowey: ....

Little thought about Gemini and Papyrus in Quarantale.

Mostly.

Papyrus learns that Gemini is younger than him and a they. And eventually. Learns that Gemini very much prefers ponchos ans stuff over other clothing. So. He takes their little sibling to a shop with a lot of them as soon as he can like because no Papyrus does anything with half messures and they go to a shop covered with different options:

Gemini just stands there. In shock and with awe in their eyes. Papyrus feels very proud for being a good older brother :)

Gemini gets to pick a few they like and Papyrus encourages them to try many on to see what fits and what they like :) they get a striped one. To follow the tradition of kids wearing striped shirts of where Papyrus is. (Papyrus almost cried to realise that Gemini willingly is picking up traditions from their little Quarantine zone <3)

This time with an OC connected to Gemini's past/lore.

Meet

Hazel. The harpy monster

She is the old older sister of Gemini.

She is much older and taller than Gemini. They met early when Gemini was only 8ish and Hazel was already in the 20s.

Hazel is actually trans as well. But male to female compared to Gemini's female to nonbinary.

For a while it was just them before a larger group was formed on the surface.

Some design stuff.

Hazel's feathers are all brown or a variation of that. She wears pants mostly for the convince of having a bigger inventory.

The wrapping around her chest isnt actually needed. Feathers cover everything there. She just does it as she feels that gives her a more feminine look and she likes that.

She is a strong flyer and a great hand to hand fighter.

She doesnt actually have hair of any type. Just feathers. But she likes to style it into haircut type deals. Just to make it seem more her.

The start of Gemini's and Hazel's relationship was rocky but they ended up growing very close.

Hazel was the one who taught Gemini magic.
