Hey people! So I was reading something amazing, and thinking “man, I wish more people would read it!”. But then I realized, they can. They can read it, because a lot of people are stuck at home right now, and in dire need of a distraction and new people to follow, new things to read, new artists to discover. So I’m introducing the #quarantinerecs! The rules are simple: try not to recommend your own stuff, try to do one every day! My take:

This had me shaking. It was beautiful and heartbreaking and I loved it so much. It takes everything that breaks my heart about Team 7 and turns it into an exploration of their relationship and why they hurt and why they can build something again. I’m mind-blown by how accurate a representation this is, and how in-character they are despite the setting of Sasuke being back in the team after everything being unrealistic. It’s so good omfg. Go read it, leave a comment, it’s incredible.

My take:

Bunabi is one of my favourite artists of all time. They have a blending technique that makes their art instantly recognizable and I’m a fan of their composition. They work primarily with Dragon Age, but a lot of things can be found on their account, not just DA, so please check them out. They’re truly a marvel to have on the dashboard.

I remembered to do #quarantinerecs day 2 ! (it’s past midnight where I am but yall run on american time so whatever). Today I choose a fic from my naruto time so waaaaaaaaaaaay way back and it’s actually one of the only naruto fic I still remember by name

Today’s Quarantine Fic Rec is:

Phoenix Rising by Kai Maciel

Fandom: Naruto

Author’s summary: During Naruto's final battle against Sasuke, Itachi uses the power he gave him to clean Sasuke's soul and body from darkness by turning him into a newborn baby with no memories of his past. For how long can Naruto keep this a secret?

My take:

Ok so first of all this fic is old. it started in 2010. Second this fic is unfinished: the last update was in 2014 and the fic has been declared canceled since. However there is still 67 long, very good chapters of content till that with arcs which have value in themselves so I still recommend you read it (and hey, who knows maybe the author is self isolating and will get bored and pick it back up). This is a great fic. the premise, as the summary says, is Sasuke gets turned back into a baby and naruto has to take care of him. It leads to a very interesting study of the characters because it confronts naruto's carefreenness and recklessness to the responsabilities of being a young parent, of having to leave his old life behind, of having to laid low and somewhat reclused from the ninja world. it confronts his optimism to the mourning of his friend, the person he cares for the most in the world and to move on to another person he loves even more, his son who is both the same person and now so much more. it leads to great reflections on what sasuke could have been had his childhood been different, what would have changed, what would have remained the same (there are even spinn off fics that confront adult sasuke to this and forces him to reflect on his actions and face the consequences). The tone shifts between heavy moments of mourning, of fear, of loss and hearfelt bounding moments between father and son and a sasuke free of hatred that gets to discover the world with his dad. The chapters get longer as the fic goes. ff.net regulars won’t be put out by the use of japanese temrs like tou-chan and so on.

Also, I’ve discovered Senri in a convention. she’s used to those and usually sells pretty well but this year because of Covid a lot of conventions have been cancelled and we still don’t know what will happen to Japan Expo, our biggest convention (I think) and I don’t know what effect that could have had on her incomes but I’m sure she’d love a little additionnal support

Fandom: My Hero Academia Rating: T Relationship(s): Bakukirikami, Bakukami, Kirikami, Kiribaku Word count: 35,812 (10/? chapters) Author’s summary:  Electricity is a lot easier to control within yourself. Needless to say, Kaminari's experimented with it a lot, altering brain circuits and firing up his muscles. The results aren't always so good. He smiles and pretends everything is fine, even if he's barely coping. Bakugou and Kirishima notice. Unfortunately, someone else learns of his 'talents'.

My take

This is honestly incredibly good. If you’re not really sure where this is going at first, you realise maybe it was better when you didn’t know but you just can’t stop. You can see the real struggle Kaminari undergoes, and how realistic it looks. It is great to see that for once, adults are also included in a fanfiction. The author explores Horikoshi’s universe splendidly, and the characters can be surprising without ever being ooc. It still is an ongoing fanfiction, so please give all of your love and support to the writer! Also, you can find them on Twitter too.

My take

My take

That’s one of the best BnHA fics I ever read? Like, everything is so in character? The plot is amazing? The descriptions are very good - no, excellent??? And it’s all nice and fun? I want to read this multiple times? I would read 32989473893 other fanfictions like this. Their relationship is just so cute and caring - and also, you know, the Adult Part. Strongly advise it - just check it out, read this fic, leave kudos, comment and share it, because it’s what the author deserves!

My take

Love at first sight. I’m always impressed by Smartie’s art: whether it is about the angle they picked, the pose, the colours (loving the black and white fanarts so much), the lines or the theme - your AUs are so freaking cool gosh! I’m in love with everything. I’m really happy to see more of their work whenever they decide to share - a true blessing. Honestly, very inspiring. And it’s mostly traditional art! Art goals, really. MY TAKE:

So as I said before this is porn. Not super hardcore stuff but if you’re underage or don’t like this kinda stuff look away. This is a no power, no academy no nothing AU, Ben and Klaus are strangers to each other so no exploration of long lasting relationship or shared trauma or anything. The fic is written from Klaus’ point of view with a third person internal narrator. I love this fic. I love how it manages to have a very sweet fluffy moment amidst porn and it really conveys the feeling that Klaus has of being in a homey, warm, cosy scenery while being fucked against a wall. I like that I can associate senses to this fic, I can associate a dark yellow to it, from the title and throughout the fic with klaus’ associations and I can associate warmth to it, either gentle warmth when Klaus just feels welcome at Ben’s place and fire when he’s getting fucked. also, it’s 3h30 where I am so let’s talk about something nobody cares: let’s talk text arrangement. So when you publish terxt professionaly you justify your text (you SHOULD also do that for school stuff) that is to say you use the 4th arrangement setting in your text software, the one that arranges it evenly from side to side of the page. For fics, some justify the text, some have their text alligned to the left. this one is alligned to the left so the base setting on every text software were you can draw a straight line to every first letter of a line at the left of the page but you can’t at the right of the page, like a tumblr post. ANYWAY one of my teacher told us “you only allign your text to the left for poems. when you hand me an essay alligned to the left I feel like I’m about to read a poem” and idk if it’s that or the fact that it’s 3h30 am and it probalby was first time I read this fic but this fic feels fucking poetic to me ! the use of the senses, the rythm of the sentences with repetitions, switches from long sentences to short isolated ones, the punctuation. And it ends with bed snuggle which fucking warms my heart. also there is a line about hate doors and even though I love doors I also love that Klaus hates them and this is getting too long.

Robot Lover Song by Neku

Neku is a french bassist, singer and songwriter. if you go to his Youtube chanel you will mainly find episode of Le Micmac, a humour press review he does but they are all in french so most of you probably won’t watch it. However, he also made a total of 10 original songs and my favorite is Robot Lover Song. It’s in english so you’ll have no problem with the lyrics. He wrote the song and sings it in duet with Aline. It’s a song about a forbidden love, star crossed lovers with a very nice ambiance and melody. Neku’s low voice contrasts very well Aline’s high parts. Neku also plays the bass in the french group Starrysky (but all of their songs except for jamfictions are in english) which has rock/jrock/metal influences and taht’s it for tonight

Tank time is a great davekat fic. it’s a humanstuck au about dave getting a cat to make ammend with rose because he lost jasper and karkat being the employee of the pet shop in charge of the adoption and being way too protective of the cat and making everything he can to discourage dave from adopting that cat. The dynamic is ennemy to friend to lover with a associal animal obsessed hyperagressive, closed off karkat and a socially starved awkward dave. Karkat is indian and dave is black albino. every interaction in this fic is gold with dave and karkat gratting against each and slowly warming up to each other and making themselves more vulnerable (especially karkat, lot of protective layers), absolutely go read it.... IF you find it that is! the fic seems to be gone, maybe it’s just tonight but all the links I had turn up with nothing and nothing when I search for AO3 either so if anyone knows what happened to it tell me because I really love it ?

La saga des sovranos par King Pumkin

MON AVIS:

De retour sur fanfiction.net et qui dit ff.net dit vieux. Revenons donc ensembles aux temps immémoriaux de 2010. La Saga des Sovranos c’est une fic dégentée qui utilise un procédé très familier de l’auteur 1) rajouter un ou des OC au canon 2) les regarder foutre le bordel. Et là on est clairement dans le “des OC” soyons clairs: La saga des sovranos a dit merde au canon. On a BEAUCOUP de personnages OOC et les deux personnages principaux sont une OC et un harry tellement loing du canon que c’est pareil. Et son frère jumeau. qui n’est pas le deuxième personnage principal. On est dans la période de ff.net où la réflexion “vous savez ce qu’il manque à Harry Potter ? du combat au corps à corps” est tout à fait valide et de fait harry s’est ici enfui de chez les dursley et est adopté par une famille de mercenaire. oui on n’est toujours à poudlard. On est donc sur une fanfic complètement déjantée que je qualifierais sans hésiter de crackfic si le plot n’était pas en fait bien pensé et si les passages de drame n’étaient pas tout à fait sérieux. Retrouvez vos personnages préférés d’harry Potter tels que Harry, Ron, Hermione, Helmet, Luna, Neville, Scat, Cédric, Helmet (le perroquet) et encore plein d’autres ! La fic est divisée en tome car elle suit la timeline des livres. On en est actuellement au tome 5 et petit bémol ça fait des années qu’on n’a plus de nouvelle de l’auteur. et quand je dis des années je veux dire des années. la saga des sovranos sombrera-t-elle dans les méandres de ff.net ? nul ne peut le savoir.

j’ai découvert lee il y a pas longtemps sur twitter. il fait des dessins a design fluffy avec des personnages au nez et aux joues rouges, c’est le bien. Il a fait des fanarts pour haikyuu, Boku no hero academia, Evangelion, hands of eizouken etc mais SURTOUT récemment il est sur les Ratz. Si vous êtes français vous connaissez les rats et sinon vous devriez connaitre les ratz et le mec ça fait des semaines (ou des jours ou des mois je n’ai aucune notion du temps) qu’il dessine son self insert en train de pécho rapido sans que personne lui ai rien demandé et il vit sa meilleure vie et franchement énorme respect une inspiration pour tous et c’est tout ce que j’ai à dire
