Been listening to a Lee Holdridge soundtrack, “Mr. Mom”.
The movie is a John Hughes domestic comedy from 1983 I don’t need to see.
(Hughes’ movies such as “The Breakfast Club” and “Home Alone” were successful beyond belief because they fit snugly into the eighties. Luckily, the superficial, pleasant stupidity of the Reagan era shied well clear of the insane, destructive dumbness of the Trump era.)
The movie’s soundtrack was released for the first time… in 2020.
The score is only 30 minutes long and some short tracks are fluffy stuff for comedic scenes but the longer tracks are music with substance. Luscious melodies orchestrated with great craft.
It’s not a CD for the masses but the film music lovers will enjoy it as fine Lee Holdridge score.
I applaud the new film music record company Quartet Records for restoring and publishing it.
