The most important things I've learned as a Quatris trainer

My name is Molly Goodhart and I am a trainer here at Quatris Health. I spend a large portion of my day training Centricity EMR, EzAccess Patient Portal, Centricity Analytics and Mobility. I want to use this opportunity to share with you five things that I have learned while training.
Trainers LOVE questions.
When a team of staff members is engaged and asking questions during a training session, it’s a good indication of how successful they’ll be with putting that training into practice. As a trainer I love questions. A training without questions may as well be a recording, so use our time to the fullest and ask as many questions as you can!
Review what you have learned ASAP.
Learning how to use a product is very similar to learning in school. You will be most successful if you use the information that you have learned as soon after training as you can. This means making sure all staff members that will be using the product should have the ability to use their knowledge within 3 days of training either with real patients or test patients.
Job Aids are Cheat Sheets.
Job Aids are our version of cheat sheets. Learning a new product may be similar to learning in school but we do not want our products to feel like a test. This is why we provide Job Aids. These documents detail everything you have learned until you can do the workflows in your sleep.
Setup is Vital.
While we know that it may not be the most exciting part of your day, setup is vital to your success. Setup can take time, but it has a drastic impact on your everyday experience. Completing pieces of setup outside of training allows you to customize the product to your specific needs while saving training time for reviewing the workflows you will use on a daily basis.
Recordings are a 24/7 Trainer.
If you just need to review a topic or have a schedule that does not allow you to attend training during business hours, a recording could be exactly what you need. Many of our job aids have a recording link that can be watched from anywhere with an internet connection. One-on-one training is still valuable but do not discount a recording you have been sent, it could be the perfect resource for your needs!
