Mother to the Alicorn Sisters and long-forgotten deity of the sea, Queen Novo in my MLP Exileverse AU!
Long ago, when Starcatcher had newly created the world, the Tree of Harmony was buffeted by powerful winds and raging waves. She wished for help to control the elements. The moon’s rays shone on the sea and created Novo. The sun’s rays were swept up into the wind and created Gusty.
Novo and Gusty were as different from each other as the sun and moon from which they came. Gusty was strong-willed, loud, and cared a great deal, while Novo was malleable, silent, and cared very little about anything at all. Theirs was not a peaceful coexistence. The two deities were constantly at odds, with Gusty casting storms to push Novo around and Novo trying to smother his howling under the waves.
To help them bond, Starcatcher granted them a daughter, but Nova wanted nothing to do with the bright, noisy baby. Gusty, who was desperate for company, gave his daughter everything she wished. He commanded his people to cut down the Tree of Harmony to build a kingdom. He became known as Gusty the Great.
Still, Starcatcher wanted Novo to be happy, too, so she gave them another daughter, this time quiet as the night. Nova delighted in her silence, and built a kingdom deep under the ocean for her to rule.
When Gusty found out about his other daughter, he was furious that Nova had hid her from him. He waged war on the ocean to retrieve her. Novo retaliated, creating her own army, the Hippocampus, to fight back.
Gusty won when Celestia used her newfound sun powers to burn away miles of the ocean; father and daughter stole Luna away. Nova swore vengeance on all creatures of the land and sky before retreating to the depths of the ocean, never to be seen…
Until much later, when the Storm King rises again.
