I am in the Naruto fandom since mid 2014. And honestly I have never seen a worse fandom.
The hate Sakura and Sasusaku fans get is just horrible. I have nothing against other fans who just don’t like Sakura or Sasusaku. But I hate the false claims that are made since so many years. It is always the same false and annoying stuff.
But what upsets me the most, is that the fans of Sakura and Sasusaku getting harassed, get called names and that we get told that we are horrible people because we like a specific fictional character and a fictional ship. I really have the feeling that we are outcasts in the Naruto fandom, because a big chunk of them just can’t understand our reasons to like these characters and this ship.
Sadly you're right anon, although - and I can't believe I'm saying this - from my experience there are actually even worse fandoms than Naruto.
I've tried many times to find an explanation for the fact that SasuSaku is hated the most in the fandom, but I guess I'll never truly know. Some haters lack the most basic respect, you can't even properly argue with them. They also tend to forget that behind every opinion you find on the internet sits a real person with real feelings that can be hurt when they're disrespected. But it's easy to hide behind a nickname without any real consequences, so they won't stop, sad as it is.
I've reached a point where I just block any hater I see in the SasuSaku tag immediately once I notice they're antis. I don't read their posts any further, I just block them and move on. Unfortunately I have to do that quite often when I check the tag after having been absent from Tumblr for a while. But it's better that way for my mental health.
