Exactly. Like I have no problem with them trying to get across that Stiles has anxiety. I'm all here for representation of mental illness. However, I feel that if it was anybody besides Stiles they wouldn't have got ten minutes of just breathing heavily. (There were honestly no other real signs that he was suffering from a panic attack)
like, also, it’s already well established that stiles has anxiety. malia has referenced that he smells overly anxious more than once, and we’ve seen him have panic attacks on screen before he “killed” donovan
i think it would be better in terms of representation of mental illness if they talked about liam’s IED (how the fuck is that going?), or scOTT’S PTSD AND DEPRESSION???????
like literally here’s how i would do the “oh shit donovan is dead” scene:
Stiles stares at Donovan’s body. Unsure of what to do, he bolts, terrified. He runs to the Jeep and spends a few seconds trying to collect himself before calling Scott.
“Scott…” he says, his voice cracking. “Some thing’s happened.” He can’t actually say the words Donovan’s dead, I killed him. They get stuck in his throat. “I’m at the school. I need you.”
[Cue opening credits]
