Hey Scyllaya! First off, I'm a huge fan of your works, especially 'Bend Around the Wind'. I consider myself an okay fanfiction writer and just recently I was asked by someone if they could translate my works into their native tongue. I don't know any other fiction writer I've read who has had their works translated apart from you, and I was wondering if you could tell me about how that all works? Well, not sure what you mean. Your story is posted and they use the text and translate it and post the translation somewhere. That’s about it. There’s no system or routine or things you need to do.

For translations I only ever ask that a link to the original work is added when they post it, so that it’s properly credited.

I have more than just BATW translated to different languages, and I always give permission, because my work finds more people, not just those who speak English. It was so nice to see all the comments on the French translation of BATW, because so many of those people don’t speak English or not well and they couldn’t read my story even if they wanted to. This way they got to enjoy it as well, which is amazing :)

I also always give permission for podfics.

In my experience you have nothing to do, unless you speak the language they wish to translate it to, in which case you can check it out and give helpful tips to the translator, IF they need it. But in most case they don’t need any help whatsoever.

Whoo! Questions! 

Firefly: What has kept you going in the worst time of your lives? 

My friends and family without a doubt. I had a pretty shitty senior year due to my mother being sick and financial problems and if my friends hadn't been there to keep me smiling instead of crying, I don't know what I would have done. I love my friends. 

And I'm also a strong believer in fate and that everything happens for a reason and that everything tends to work out. In my Musical Theatre class, i had a habit of saying "it gets better" whenever anything bad happened because I honestly believe that everything does get better, "cause when you hit bottom, the only way to go is up". (Atlantis: The Lost Empire)  

So, friends, my family (even though I didn't really mention them) and everything getting better.
