I’ve known Ashley for a while now, and I couldn’t really pinpoint to you when we became friends, but she’s one of those people that is just so full of life and passion that she sort of just draws you in without thinking about it. And I mean it when I say she’s passionate. She’s sort of an all or nothing kind of person. If she wants you in her life, she’ll give and give and give, and I think that’s kind of fantastic, that a person can be so willing to give herself to others. I know she’d say differently. She hates that she’s like that, but I think that’s what makes her so special. She literally lets things consume her until they kill her, and I think that can easily be seen in her artwork and in her writing. Not to mention her job, where she spends hours on end with wardrobe, and making sure other people look their best, and she’s that behind the scenes person that just makes everything work so smoothly no matter how stressed out she is.

I think she’s also brave, she’s very much the Gryffindor she claims to be, and I think that’s most apparent in the fact that she left everything behind and ran to NYC as soon as a job offer came through. She left her puppies behind, and her nephew behind, but she did it because she loves what she does, even if it’s time consuming, and sometimes more than exhausting, she ran to NYC because that’s where her dreams were, and she’s more than willing to sacrifice safety if it means she can move ahead further in her own life.

I also think Ashley is too hard on herself a lot of the time, and she worries too much about the feelings of others when in the end, we do live in a selfish world, and until you’re happy, you can’t manage the happiness of others.

You were one of the first people to welcome me to PFTM, and your characters always make me so happy!!!! I still think that Finn is probably one of my characters ever & you are one of my favorite people so it works out!!!!! You are the beeeeeeeest.

@jimhalport YOU. HEY. LOUISE. There was a really long time when I did not know who you were & was a tiny bit scared of you bc Ellie was a tiny bit scary, but then you told me about some British piano thing & you were just the coolest!!! And honestly I could talk about the Office & jim and Pam non-stop and like !!!!!!!! You’re an amazing writer and have great taste and tv and nothing else is important so there you go

@queenedfelicity omg so I think the first time I actually talked to you it was like “hi so I’ve been stalking your tumblr and do you work at the public theatre bc I’m writing a paper on it and can you help me” which if I’m honest is a really weird way to start talking to someone & a lot weirder bc I’d like theoretically known you for several years at that point. BUT HONESTLY YOU ARE SO COOL AND I WANNA BE LIKE YOU. People are always like “yeah you can’t work in theatre and definitely not in New York” AND THEN THERE YOU ARE AND JUST !!!!!!!! WOAH! plus you’re always so positive and amazing and idk you rock

@queenedfelicity - I don’t talk to Ashley enough (I’m going to go on blaming timezones for all this shittiness on my part) but I feel I rave about her behind her back an awful lot help. When Ashley first moved to NYC I remember feeling all sorts of mixes of awe and jealousy and inspiration. I thought I can never be that brave, but wow I wish I was. It’s so amazing that she’s doing this and chasing after her dreams and getting to meet all these amazing people. And then I came to France. And people were messaging me going all wow that’s amazing that you’re doing that, how are you so brave? And I thought “what are you on about I’m not being brave. I am forcing myself to do something in part to keep my parents off my back. I have transplanted myself into another family so I’m still not really having to live independently. I didn’t know what else to do.” But eventually I started to get it. We can never know how someone else is actually feeling about a decision they’ve made about their life, but there’ll always be people who look at them and are proud and inspired and think you to be brave just because you got up and did what you felt you had to do. Maybe there’ll be days it’s not going as well as you imagined in your dreams. You don’t always want to face the people you live with and work isn’t called work for nothing. But I will never stop being inspired by Ashley as it is because while I don’t know exactly how she feels about everything in her life, and while I know not every day is going to be all sunshine and roses for her, I still see this woman who is chasing her dreams, and you know what? You can scroll down her blog and there will be mixes of inspiration and motivation and happy thoughts. And everyone needs that in their life.
