0 aid/whirl (or a wrecker of ur choice)
How do they have a bean? the hotspot on Luna One flared up again. there are children everywhere, and the Lost Light is now a nursery ship. congratulations to all the lucky mechs! nearly everyone is a parent now. First Aid and Whirl end up co-parenting because it’s easier to share responsibilities, and Whirl is a lot better with kids than First Aid is.
Would they have one bean or more than one bean? If more, how many? they have two - Jigsaw and Monarch. Rodimus thought raffling kids off was a good idea and they both got their numbers called.
What are the beans’ shapes? Sizes? teeny little babies. Jigsaw is bean-shaped. Monarch is a slightly-larger onigiri triangle. by ten months, they start to look like typical humanoid babies.
Are their beans exceptionally cuddly squishy blobs or no? Monarch is a cuddler and likes to stay in Whirl’s cockpit or snuggled in the works of First Aid’s shoulder kibble; Jigsaw is too busy trying to look at everything with her near-sighted baby optics to waste time cuddling.
Do their beans have basic protoform appendages forming yet? they both have stubby arms and wing nubs. Monarch will eventually be a grounder with doorwings, but Whirl insists from day one that he can tell Jigsaw is going to be a jet (she is).
How much are their beans dependent on them? they’re both really little and need a lot of care and attention. Monarch can be a little more demanding if he thinks he’s not getting enough affection.
Who do the beans take after more physically? both babies obviously have set frametypes that won’t change a lot, even with influence from their parents; but within a few weeks Jigsaw is already taking on Whirl’s colour scheme and First Aid’s visor, and Monarch’s optics are starting to shift from baby-white to gold. they both eventually have very dexterous servos. Jigsaw inherit’s Whirl’s digitigrade legs, and Monarch ends up looking a lot like First Aid in a vague sort of way (even if he does eventually have a sports car alt-mode).
Personality-wise, who is each bean more like? Monarch is quiet like First Aid, but when he gets older he’ll definitely take up Whirl’s preference for tinkering. Jigsaw has a loud and curious personality that evens out with age, and her do-no-harm-but-take-no-shit attitude means she ends up being well-suited for the medical field.
How do their beans interact with other grown mechs? besides his dads, Monarch only likes Ratchet, Brainstorm, and Cyclonus (Tailgate is a little too loud and has a little too much energy) because they will cuddle him or read to him when they’re babysitting. Jigsaw likes everybody. she disappears a lot only to be found in the care of Rodimus, Rewind, or Swerve, having spent her afternoon seeing new parts of the ship and meeting new (to her) crewmembers.
How do their beans interact with other protoforms? Monarch is quiet, preferring to gently pat his playmates or lean against them; he’s very good at cooperating and sharing. Jigsaw likes to lay on other protoforms and squish them, all while ‘talking’ constantly.
What sounds does their bean make? Jigsaw keeps up a near-continuous stream of baby-babble and will produce happy, audial-piercing shrieks when she wants to get the attention of a familiar adult from across the room. Monarch likes to hum and make little sing-song noises when he’s content or concentrating. if he wants to be picked up, he’ll squeak softly until one of his dads notices him.
How do the beans move about? both will either crawl around with their little arms or make use of the nearby adults (although Monarch is picky when it comes to who he accepts lifts from). Monarch will be the first to learn to walk (and later transform), but Jigsaw learns to crawl first and it is chaos.
Where and how often do their beans like to snooze? aside from about two four-hour chunks of sleep at night (with a thirty-minute break in-between to eat something) Monarch takes lots of little naps during the day and is pretty much guaranteed to fall asleep if he’s being held by someone he trusts. Jigsaw only sleeps from about 4am to 6am as long as First Aid holds her (and all the planets are aligned) and honestly, her poor parents need a break.
