Delphine was in the midst of a conversation that had her standing a little too close to one of the CoV’s marauders, saying few words between long looks and coy smiles. The expression didn’t even falter when he put a hand on her waist; in fact, her smile only grew wider.
“Close your eyes~” she said. When he’d done so, she leaned in close enough to be convincing, waiting for the subtle parting of his lips before she slipped something small and metallic into his mouth. Her demeanor changed almost instantly as she pulled away again, her smile more sinister.
“That’s a bomb. I wouldn’t open my mouth if I were you unless you want to lose all your vital organs at once.” She grabbed his face, forcing him to look at her and digging her nails into his skin. “Now listen to me. You can’t think about doing anything without me knowing. You’re not slick and you can’t pull one over on me. So no more plotting, got it?” She waited for his panicked nodding before she continued.
“Good. But just to make sure, I’m gonna leave you like this for a little while until I’m sure you’ve learned your lesson. And remember--” She smirked, miming a zipper across her lips. “Mouth shut.”
She let him go and turned, rolling her eyes as she dropped the facade. Once she’d put a few paces between them, she raised a hand to her shoulder, thumbing a small device in her palm. The explosion followed almost immediately, obliterating the top half of the bandit, sending viscera raining down around what was left of him. She only saw Tyreen after the blast faded, giving her a long, flat look before she shrugged one shoulder.
“My finger slipped.”
