the end of a friendship
You could always do research to see that things such as shock therapy and terminology like that is wrong and should be avoided. Also simply rewording the statement works, as long as you avoid terminology such as "crazy" or anything of the like that would insinuate that something is wrong with people with mental health issues. Even saying that they are not thinking "stereotypical" things would get the point across, but there are many other options.
it was just a little simple blog post, i wasn't going to go researching just for half a paragraph of words.
but, i am sorry if the post was offensive, i'll try to be more careful around that idea in the future.
You are not being tagteamed. You explicitly state in your sidebar to tell you if you've said something rude, and that's what I'm doing. Same goes for my friend. I'm simply telling you what you said was rude and extremely offensive. It has the same meaning as calling a gay person a "faggot" (just to put it in perspective for you.) Calling someone who has mental health issues, or calling their subsequent thoughts, "crazy" is the problem here, not me calling it out.
Ok, i see that that was rude, so i'm sorry, but i don't know how else i could communicate the idea without being similarly ableist??
