【T】he girl smiled at the new faces. She wasn't used to seeing many strangers around these parts of town. It was definitely not safe around here.
"Hello there~"
Her sweet voice chirped.
"Can I help you with something?"
"Hush"
“Your muse finds my muse curled up on the bed, crying. Send “Hush” for a 1-35 generated response to why.”
The tears she’d withheld the majority of the day now seeped out in the cool abyss of night where hopefully none would see. She was their leader, she had to be strong, she couldn’t break. For their sake. She had to at least put up a strong front. For them.
Kido had been laying there a while now, likely the only one left awake, kept so by her nagging thoughts. These thoughts that prodded at her weaknesses, shortcomings, everything that ever made her doubt herself. Curled up in a ball, she cried, face buried in her pillow to muffle her sharp gasps for air between sobs. The thoughts told her everything she didn’t want to hear. Who died and made you leader? You’ve never been that good of a leader. Why do any of them even follow you? Bet they all secretly hate you. Anyone could be a better leader than you. It’d be better for everyone if you died and let someone else take over. Everyone probably wishes Nee-chan was still alive so she could be leader. Nee-chan was such a better leader, she actually cared about everyone. You’re just a heartless monster. The thoughts raged on and on, never having their fill of her misery.
The door to her room opened slowly, creaking slightly. Light footsteps entered the room, and Kido attempted to calm her breathing and lessen her tears, trying to feign sleep. It wouldn’t be good for anyone to see her like this. The leader listened as the footsteps neared her bed and finally reached it. The other occupant of the room sat on the bed next to Kido, who spoke without thinking or looking to see who the other person was. “It…was a mistake for me to ever become leader…” Her words were quiet and melancholy, as well as an immediate source of regret. She shouldn’t have said what she was thinking and had been feeling. It’d just be a burden to whoever heard.
