HIS ATTENTION flicks to padmé - - - is it padmé ? it's difficult to tell , even for him , but his eyes flicker over her features and he thinks , no , it isn't the senator , but sabé in her place . bail will not be the one to give up her ruse . he turns to the senator he is currently speaking with and politely excuses himself to walk with her .

IT TAKES him a moment longer than he'd like to realize he's not speaking to padmé herself . he's gotten good at spotting the differences , if only because of his friendship with her . but even he still has a hard time telling sometimes . he turns to walk with the other woman .

❝ of course . shall we go to my apartment ? ❞ if it's one of the handmaidens that's speaking with him , he can only assume it's something not meant for other's ears .

"I'll take your word for it, I've been kept in the ship." As long as she wore the queen's face, she was effectively the queen. So of course Panaka and the Jedi wouldn't let Sabé go anywhere, not to mention leaving the ship. "How's it going out there?"

Padme frowned at Sabé's tone; knowing her decoy didn't like being cooped up. They were both that way despite a politician's job description arriving with a cooped up clause from the start. Royal ceremonies, the senate, delegate meetings -- they all required sitting in large buildings for long periods of time. It wasn't so much the waiting around that had Padmé fidgety. She was worried about Naboo and Sabé, who was risking her life along with everyone back at the ship.

"Master Qui-Gon has put all of our credits on a pod race," she rolled her eyes. "I thought Jedi were supposed to be wise ?"

"I'm glad your safe." Padmé responded with the same emotion, just different words. "I wish you were here." Sabe's flickering hologram wasn't the same as having her in the room. Delicate fingers waved through the image, skewing the pixels until they recalibrated back into place. She was crouched down in the empty shop behind three desks shoved together to make a long counter on which metal parts and tools were strewn. Everyone was at the market besides Watto, who'd declared he would be crossing the gone for the afternoon to settle a "business deal". Whatever that meant. Sabé's face was painted in royal makeup; she'd recorded a few transmissions as Queen (coded to keep their location hidden), but her hair was free from ornaments and headpieces so anything official was complete. Padmé was stressed when Sabé initially called on her compact communicator. Should she return to the ship? The sand storm isolated their rag tag salvage team at the Skywalkers; it felt like forever. In typical pattern, her chief handmaiden soothed her worries: everything was handled in execution as smoothly in training. "I didn't know my lips could chap so quickly. The air is as dry as Jakku and we were only there for a day last year!"

the restlessness that'd slept within her had now begun to make itself known, emotions moving her figure, a kind of excitement making her pace in the lounge area of her new living quarters. the senator who was now 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 a new page in her life and taking the first steps in the senate's halls had found that her chest was full of both hope and doubt; simultaneously she was most eager to get to work and subconsciously protecting her younger self, still quite not over the loss of an ordinary girlhood and overall youth even if she'd claimed otherwise whenever receiving concerned questions. so much had already changed and would keep on changing until her mind would get fully used to the new environment and assignments. however, some things would likely remain the same as they'd been for years — sabé would notice even the smallest shifts in her 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐫, and it was more than likely that even without padmé's pacing the handmaiden would've been able to recognize the nudge in her confidence. darling sabé, ever loyal, a stunning beauty herself, was still here to keep the former queen's head above water.

padmé's steps came to halt, hands then clasping in her front. at first the smile finding its way on her lips was one offered with only half a heart, softening eventually to a more genuine one. pale, 𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐤𝐲 green, elegant gown had reminded padmé distantly of summertime and it'd brought her some distant comfort; the silk felt pleasantly soft against her warm skin. still, it wasn't the attire that made her feel beautiful, but the oddly comforting compliment.

❝ so do you. we're naboo's maidens after all ❞, she hummed with a hint of humor, freeing her hands and extending them both in sabé's direction in hopes of an embrace, ❝ thank you for being here today. i mean it. ❞

Since Luke found out about his parents, he really wanted to visit his mother's home planet - Naboo. The planet where his mother was buried. What was she like? This he can learn from her servant and faithful friend.
