"Ah, your wife must be very wise." Breha joked, stealing a kiss, she rarely kissed Bail in public, it wasn't that she didn't love him but she was a queen before she was a wife, so propiety sometimes came first.
But the alcohol was making her a little less concerned about propriety right now.
THE KISS is swift , chaste even , and yet it melts bail nonetheless . he glances out of the window , trying to gauge how much longer they have on this blasted drive . he returns his attention to her , moving closer to wind an arm around her in the seat .

Echo's eyes quickly scan the data, both his regular flesh eyes as well as the scanners implanted into the neural cortex around his head. He doesn't have a lot of time to read the information, although he does take mental scans to review more deeply later, and what he sees is enlightening, even if not blatantly obvious. The niggling from before turns to a quiet murmur as he mentally turns the votes over in his mind, noting actions here and moves there that paint a very interesting picture for someone who might be inclined to look.
Just keeping himself from changing his breathing rate--keep it regulated and steady-- he nods slightly, passing the holopad back over the senator, his gaze somehow even sharper than before. "I think they very well could align, senator. What help might I be able to give you?"
IT COULD be a ruse , of course . bail hasn't survived being a senator in the empire without a healthy dose of paranoia . but the way echo looks at him , something in his eye . . . bail feels their understanding of each other CLICK . he meets that sharp look with one of his own and he nods . he glances around . he doesn't trust his senatorial apartments . . . but luckily he knows a friend of a friend .

THE WORDS she speaks are the ones he's already thinking . there is a slight catch of his breath , before a tender smile finds itself on his lips . his hands tighten on hers , giving them a squeeze .

HE DOESNT understand it . he's not force - sensitive . he doesn't see the future or feel the way the future weaves with the present . and now , apparently , the past .
but what bail DOES know is that he feels quite a bit of anger in his chest ( a rare case for him ) . his hands are clasped tightly behind his back as he faces off against the younger version of a man that is currently making his life a LIVING HELL .

"I've heard. But Alderaan is a peaceful planet, so it can't become too messy, right?" Though, Obi-Wan thinks the term messy is more than generous. As far as he's seen, the palace has just been hushed arguing and formal complaints and with the Republic overseeing the transition of power, they won't even have the chance to step foot in the direction of civil war, let alone any sort of political violence. At least, that is what he assumes. Either that or every planet side adult is holding back information from him (which is difficult to believe because his Master is quite adept at knowing everyone's business—he calls it reconnaissance—but Obi-Wan and Master Nu would call it gossiping). Perhaps he needs to be more pushy with his temporary peers.
"You don't sound particularly impassioned. Do you believe the throne is rightfully yours?"
. . . HE SUPPOSES that's true , isn't it ? the alderaanian version of " messy " isn't actually really all that , well . . . messy . there's high tensions and sharp words , cruel looks and snide comments . but bail can't imagine there are going to be any POLITICAL ASSASSINATIONS considered . . . . at least , for his sake , he hopes not .

Breha was not a shy woman, she never had been, but in this moment she certainly felt like it. Her cheeks warmed, the way he said wife, it carried more weight than the word queen.

HE PASSES his hand over her chest , feels the warmth of the pulmonodes there . his other hand takes hers and places it over his own chest , where his own heart resides .

Breha smiled, sipping her drink, though that did nothing to hide the blush that colored her cheeks, something about Bail made her act like a lovesick teenager even all these years later.
"Charmer." The queen said, glancing towards the screen that seperated them from the driver.
"How far are we from the residence? And will we be alone tonight?"
BREHA'S GLANCE toward the divider sets a mischievous flicker in bail's eyes and there's a brief flare of the young man he once was . his hand reaches for hers .
❝ we're not horribly far . and my apartments are entirely ours for the evening . i'm not expecting any guests . ❞ he'd arranged it just so this evening . usually himself and a of couple other senators ( mon and padmé mostly ) meet after to discuss the evening , but not tonight . he takes her hand and presses it to his lips , liquid brown eyes meeting hers .

Breha and Bail had been married not even a year, but she had noticed the shift in their relationship, what had once been purely duty was now something else entirely.

HE CAN'T help the tenderness in his eyes in the way he looks at her , so different than when they were first married . something else has bloomed in bail's chest in this first year of their marriage . his fingers reach out , brushing over her cheek .
