"Hey Liz! Watch this!"
"Oh Merlin Max . .!"
"Hey look what I made for you!"
Liz bowed her head and held her face in her hands before looking up at the flock of bird flying away.
"You're adorable."

"Hey Liz! Watch this!"
"Oh Merlin Max . .!"
"Hey look what I made for you!"
Liz bowed her head and held her face in her hands before looking up at the flock of bird flying away.
"You're adorable."
“Liz…”
“Yes dear? What’s wrong?”
“Oh… No nothing’s wrong… I just wanted to… I love you. You know that?”
“Yes I know you do.”
“Well?”
“Well what?”
“Have anything to say in response? Maybe something similar?”
“What do you mean?”
“You know… Three similar words? To say… To me maybe?”
“Oh! Well I mean… Love isn’t the clearest thing I’ve known… But I've been thinking about it and … I think… I love you too.”
The first time Max managed to get Liz to admittedly say that she loved him a year after their graduation.
The woods always look different at night. As if the daytime trees and flowers and stones had gone to bed and sent slightly more ominous versions of themselves to take their places. Despite the atmosphere Max was charged with energy that seemed to radiate off of him, more so that ever before. He glanced back at Liz who’d recently agreed to moving in with his rather jumbled family in their manor which was big enough for the settlers.
Tonight however Max’s mind was far from his family tonight it was solely for Liz. Gripping her hand a little tighter seeking comfort in her touch he continued down the path towards the ribbon lake that curved out of sight through the valleys the landscape unfolding into the distance. Moonlight shone on the water like a pale path of silver leading off to some unventured land. Eventually the pair reached their destination not a word spoken although the silence wasn’t heavy the pair had grown rather accustomed to it. The silence was one of comfort to them both, something they both sought when in need of deeper thoughts.
Coming to a halt Max glanced once again at Liz beside him the night was warm, the breeze licking the surf into a gentle symphony where it met the sand they now stood on. The wind rushed over the lake ruffling his hair - dark and lustrous, it could almost have been mistaken for jet black. But the sultry hints of deep brown could be seen around the edges and in its wily shine. His breathing was calm, collected for once he was at ease.
Max’s attention shifted from the Liz to the horizon and then up to the sky a dark black canvas with white crystals scattered across its surface, his contemplative nature set alight by satisfaction as a long-forming pattern fell into place. The silence was broken by his voice.
“Close your eyes Liz.”
She looked at him for a moment her eyes narrowing a little before she nodded and let her eyes flutter shut. “You better not try anything.” She muttered before falling silent as she felt his fingers twisting themselves slightly more around her own and in the quietness focused on his breathing feeling herself relax at the sound. Max drew his wand gripping the wood lightly; he could feel magic strumming from the wood into his hand as he stood there pointing his wand up at the sky. Quietly he began to incant some spells and a bright white stream of light shone from the tip of his wand.
The light twisted and twirled for a while before he directed it up into the sky splitting it expertly into separate main balls. Each expertly placing themselves until they formed what he wanted. He felt relief wash over him as his rather long awaited plan was put into place. So far so good he concluded. Tucking his wand back into his belt he glanced up at his work just to be sure it hadn’t gone wrong taking a breath he nodded his head and carefully moved infront of her kneeling down on one knee and drawing out a box from his back pocket.
“Okay. . . Open your eyes.”
On his word her eyes opened slowly, flickering up to the vast expanse of sky above them a gasp escaped Liz’s lips her eyes widening as she took in just what was going on. In the sky great orbs of light hung in the shape of the heart and there settled in the middle the two simple words – Marry Me. Awestruck she stood there eyes wide with wonder gazing up at the lights. Max was smiling but her lack of response seemed to unnerve him still stuck on one knee waiting for her answer.
“Well?” He pressed a little unsure of how he was supposed to act.
She finally broke her gaze from the sky and noticed how he was situated he looked nervous and then. . . He carefully opened the box to reveal a flat floral ring nestled inside. “Oh Max! Yes. . . Of course!” She beamed as he finally rose removing the ring from the box and sliding it onto her finger, it fitted perfectly. Finally relieved that that ordeal was over he pulled her closer before kissing her gently his heart thudding wildly from his nerves. She responded in kind and let her arms drape around his neck until both broke apart breathing short. Max smiled and rested his forehead to her own as she admired the ring in the moonlight.
“Welcome to the family Mrs. Elizabeth Knight.” He whispered before kissing her softly once more.
Max upon first meeting Liz's friends.
"You look beautiful."
"Oh shush."
"How about no?"
"Quite the dancer m'lady."
"Why thank you sir although I seem to be getting a little dizzy."
"Well I can't have that now can I? Maybe I can kiss the dizziness away. . ."
"Let's see whether this remedy works."
