Ok you tell me should I use Queer Candlenights as a way to get back into writing fics? Art would take too long. Or should I not risk disappointing someone with writing I couldn’t make good?
I think it could be a good way to get into it. Idk how long it’s been since you’ve written, but this kind of thing sounds like a fun way to put a little pressure on yourself (which I find helpful, bc otherwise I never finish anything). Possibly disappointing someone is a valid concern, but I think most people will be happy with just about anything they get (I know I’m always stoked to receive something like that). And making something “good” is very subjective.
If it’s grammar/structure you’re concerned about, there are plenty of people who could beta read and help with that. If it’s characterization, you could always listen to certain episodes again or reread some fics that you find to be really well done. And if you’re worried about plot, I think that, for a project like this, it’s a little less important. These fics will be short, I think they asked for a 500 word minimum, so a more introspective character piece would be great.
I think the most important thing here is to not sell yourself short and give it a shot. If it really doesn’t work, you can always talk to the mod(s) about it.
Also, I hope it’s okay I’m publishing this rather than replying privately, but I figure maybe someone else could use the advice too.
