Do you perhaps have any recommendations for middle grade novellas?
Official novellas aren't really big in the kidlit space, but Alice Austen Lived Here by Alex Gino is actually short enough to qualify at 143 pages, and in general, the author is a great go-to for short queer/trans MG - Melissa, Rick, and their upcoming Green are all well under 300 pages as well. Hurricane Child by Kacen Callender is also relatively short at 240 pages, and Meow or Never by Jazz Taylor, at 256, and just under 300 are Ellie Engle Saves Herself by Leah Johnson, Cattywampus by Ash Van Otterloo, and Drew LeClair Gets a Clue by Katryn Bury.
If you'd like to go even shorter, consider This is Our Rainbow, ed. by Katherine Locke and Nicole Melleby, which is a collection of queer MG short stories!
