Queer Toast
Today we are gathered here to celebrate another year of queer life. I may not be the dad of any of you but I’ll forever hold in my highest regards my role as your aunt.
Let’s raise a glass for all those years that have come, and the year that is, and all the long years that have yet to come. Yes, I quote calle 13.
To the gays and lesbians, the tortas y jotos; I hope you continue loving in the opposite way they’ve told you. To the bisexuals, pansexuals, and all under the m-spec umbrella; I hope you continue to love without limits. To the aces and aros; I am raising this glass like a fist so that your own kinds of loving won’t be diminished.
To all my trans, enbies, and genderfluid kids; I wish for you to not be afraid of the revolutionary power you hold in your hands. You are the thread that can dismantle the complex system of oppression: binarism & cissexism but also, racism, colonialism, capitalism, ableism and heteronormativity.
Therefore,
Let’s raise a glass, let’s eat and dance, because we are still holding on- spreading queer joy all around the world.
